Cool How do i get DTS and LPCM movies in surround?

The good news is that I found a cheap effective way to convey surround sound, namely surround sound headphone based systems.

When I got my Turtle Beach x42 , and everyone thinks the sound is great.

There's just one problem, it only works on LDs/DVDs/HD DVDs/Blu Ray discs/ 3d discs/ 4k discs / (once we get enough internet speed, but that's something else's) web based linear programming ( non-interactive) that are delivered in some form of Dolby Language.

Depending on the machine and setting, usually DTS encoded movies are by default silent, or maybe if you play with the setting, may get a "flat stereo" soundtrack.

And Apocalypto, encoded in LPCM 5.1, as well as Wii U and Switch games, has to downmix to 2.0.

First I tried writing the people at lddb.com ( the web's biggest Laser Disc enthusiast website.). I was trying to ask a question about getting headphone surround when watching LDs, and I knew little of LDs except the pictures and sound are better than at least what came before, ( and some times even now still unsurpassed.) and is the father format of the DVD .

Likewise they never had to deal with a person whose primary, and eventually preferred surround method was gaming headphones. So they were "gawking"car this headphone guy instead of answering the question straight. Which was " if your Turtle Beach headphone convert Dolby Digital to Dolby Headphone, then an AC3 RF sound box especially made for Laser Disc will get the signal to that point where you can use them."

Then when I ask a different question and state for full disclosure that my primary surround method is Turtle Beach gaming headphones, so factor that in your answer. It's like any other unusual situation, like diabetes, where carb percentage is a bigger factor.

One time they had a discussion called "headphones" which I didn't notice until I was invited by user name to talk about it. Then I make a comment and censor it because it's off topic ( how can Turtle Beach headphones be off topic in a topic with one word, "headphones"?)

They kicked me off and never responded to my challenge. The said I was evangelizing my headphones. I was explaining why the regular answers on the bird didn't apply to me, and how I was having this problem no one else had: "Dolby or unplayable"

I was arguing things like "best for a theater" isn't necessarily "best for home". I never said OTHERS MUST have headsets. I brought up a new option to consider. Headphobes would be expensive ( and Friday) in a theater setting, likewise I say communal sound is way too expensive for one movie watcher. I concede points that are true on their side, most don't reciprocate I never go out and intend to be mean spirited. But apparantly questioning the universality of certain concepts is apparent mean spirited.

Now the main question becomes, how is headphone sound achieved now? It seems like USB, but my stand alone player doesn't do USB headsets. So I'm limited to HDMI, Toslink, or Coaxial.

Also now they don't specify the surround specific headsets, because with Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos Headphone available in Xbox One, headphones became xheaper., It's hard to tell which devices have external decoders and which rely on the console to do the heavy lifting.

Now no one makes headphone coders. Everyone assumes you use a console and that's all you need.

The only recent ones I've seen that have both Dolby and DTS readers is are Sony Surrounds. The good news is they decide sound accurately. The bad news is their surround sound effects are directionally deadened. The directional effects are not good.

Some people complain that the sound effects are not accurate when headphone mixed? I don't know what standard they use, but if I can turn, aim, dodge, and fire both more accurately AND quicker, then didn't the headphones do the job then I asked it to do right?

The Sonys might be good hi-fi earphones, but are poor Difi ( directional fidelity) headphones.

Then again. I'm an old school gamer. I don't question. the 2600 fart noise and it's closeness to what it's supposed to be. I just know what that noise represents in the game and react to it. So to me directionslism is more important than realism, and THAT'S what I notice first.

The problem with system based conversions that the DTS and DOLBY languages assume communal listening, and the Headphone conversion algorithms assumes it's the only translation, for example Native Dolby Communal to Dobly Headphones. BUT usually, when I hear a DTS communal to Dolby Communal to Dolby Headphone dual conversion, something was lost in the first conversion which ruins the second.

I think a great economy all format surround decoder would be the right native communal to headphone converters, and broadcast then communally. Turtle Beach decoders are meant for one. But once converted to 2 track headphone, you can record it on a DVD recorder with post coding L R being piped into the L R input and records a 2 track audio that is an accurate surround sound representation, as long as you stay in the headphone environment. But hearing the headphone track communally is not noticably different from the standard 2 track stereo track. FM broadcasters take 2 track input. And piping the post headphone audio through FM accurately keeps the surround effect.

The Xbox One Dolby Atmos Headphone converter ONLY works for Atmos movies. It doesn't work for LPCM movies, nor DTS movies, not EVEN movies encoded in lower Dolby standards.

I have to switch between lower Dolbys going through Turtle Beach, and Atmos through Xbox One. The current setup does not work well. DTS and LPCM are hopeless and switching between Dolbys is nuts

I never experienced having to deal with communal surround and languages. Forgive me if the answer is obvious to you, but not me.
