Hopefully, they scored an interview with Rik before he died. It would be nice to hear him talk about this, even though the film doesn't play as well now that I'm a boring old fart (I'm 33).

I can't seem to find it, now, but the Letterman interview that he did around the time perfectly crystalizes why his Hollywood career was just never meant to be. During Dave's regular, uncomfortable desk slapping interludes, Rik at one point quips "Don't do that or you'll go blind!" and neither David or anyone in the audience laughs or even seems to get the joke.

I'd prefer a fully cleaned up version of Mr Jolly Lives Next Door.
The DVD version looks like it was videotaped onto string.

I placed my pre-order!
I'm so excited, it's one of my favorite movies and I was looking at importing the UK DVD because it's in widescreen, but then I find out that a Blu-Ray is releasing! This release also includes deleted scenes, which is really exciting considering that the DVD was barebones.

I found that Letterman interview

http://youmustdrinkourtea.tumblr.com...avid-letterman

Rik is really trying, but Letterman couldn't be more ignorant or less professional.

Letterman is always like that. It's his shtick.

I like the irony Mayall's last comment: "closing on Saturday".

He wasn't kidding.

I don't know, Letterman is an odd one. He always comes across as insincere to me, even when he's trying to be charming. Look at the way he leaves the stage and reaches for his coat as soon as the show ends. He clearly doesn't give a crap and sees Rik as some sort of foreign no-hoper from the start. He's been the same with other non-Hollywood stars, too.
