I'll post the same comments here as I did in the Asian section regarding this disc. Also, though it's often referred to as a Sony release, CJ Entertainment apparently just uses their distribution channels for disc releases - the word Sony appears exactly nowhere on the cover. Credit or blame for this release should go to US distributor CJ Entertainment and/or the original production company Warner Bros. (which apparently wasn't interested in distributing this in the US).

Cool, I get to be the first to whine about how the opening credits were done entirely in removable subtitles that don't even come close to trying to match the Futura used in the theatrical release. Timing and positioning are as I remember them from the theater - all it would have taken was changing the font from Generic Subtitle Font to Futura before rendering to much more faithfully recreate the original (US) theatrical experience. (This looks particularly shabby on the included DVD version.) There are no Korean language opening credits. The good news is they aren't dubtitles, and they're not closed captions. There's a dub, I've heard worse but "good" isn't the word that comes to mind. Blu-ray picture looks very good on my limited equipment, though I've at this point just checked to make sure it worked.

If I'd waited a little longer before initially posting, I could have also whined about how 9 minutes in, when the film's title appears, they just used the logo they whipped up for the Blu-ray cover art, which looks inappropriately gaudy when actually seen in the film itself as a digital overlay in gold with a cornball lens flare on the letter G.

Closing credits are in Korean.

I'm thinking there's a 50/50 chance some territory eventually gets a better release of this one. These are minor irritants I can live with particularly given the price, but I could see someone opting to wait for a possible release that was based on the Korean theatrical print instead of a textless export version.

Has anyone actually seen the Korean DVD? How are the opening credits handled there?

I was given a copy of this for free, and finally got to watch this last night. I loved the movie, but definitely have problems with this release. The opening credits and title was poorly done as mentioned above. For the first five minutes or so of the movie, the subtitles will flicker on and off once with every new line. But what really bothered me was that the subtitles would often appear at the top of the screen every now and then through out the movie, and keep switching back. It was annoying. Will definitely pick up a Korean release whenever one comes out.

Besides the opening credits mess up, it's a pretty solid release for a pretty good film.

Yeah, the direction, cinematography, lightning, framing, blocking, acting and soundtrack were top notch. I really enjoyed those classical compositions.

Train and station shootout scenes were my favourite.

It's sang kang ho, who was as brilliant as always. This time Gong yoo also impressed.
