In addition to the full version of the desert-set chiller, which was heavily trimmed for its initial U.S. video distribution, the hi-def disc will include the bulk of the extras from Subversive Cinema’s previous three-DVD release. “Most of the documentary features will be on there, as well as some new goodies,” Gregory tells us. “The one that Richard wants to take out of circulation for the time being is the Afghanistan footage, because he’s planning to make that into a full documentary. It’s kind of an incomplete piece on the Subversive disc, so we may be involved in that in some way, shape or form, because I’m doing a lot of stuff with Richard these days. He’s in LA at the moment, and he has his DUST DEVIL jacket with him, so we’re going to go to the desert next week and shoot a bunch of new extras for the Blu-ray.

Yeah, this is great news, this movie really surprised me when I watched it on Netflix a few months ago. It has a really bizarre feel and look to it thanks to the setting and the African mythology. It's not the greatest movie but it's incredibly unique and stunning visually and I'll be picking this up for the extras and to see it in higher quality.

Netflix has the woeful studio cut of the film, so I can see why it didn't leave a better impression.

Can't wait for this disc, great news.

Dust Devil and Hardware have some of the most unique atmospheres I've seen in a movie.

I've watched the DC fairly recently, and it's a really awesome and under-appreciated flick, with mystical overtones and interesting villain, that deserve to be seen. As someone said, it's a very atmospheric movie. And speaking of atmospheric and highly entertaining flicks, I'd love to see Highway To Hell on blu-ray.

Can't wait. I was hoping that Echo Bridge would have released it when they had the rights. I guess Lionsgate is licensing out home video rights to other studios on the Miramax library?

Press release says it will "contain the bulk of the extras" from the 3-disc DVD set, not all of them, so I'm not selling that thing off until I know what's not making the transfer. Plus, the DVD set had three very nice full-color booklets, one of them a comic, as well as a reversible cover. Nah, I'm not selling that one off, period. But still can't wait for this new Blu!

Last I heard, there were rights issues. I doubt it's coming any time soon, if at all.
