DVD SRP: $220.99

Join the Keatons for the holidays with this special collection featuring all seven seasons of the beloved 80s series as FAMILY TIES: THE COMPLETE SERIES debuts November 5 from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution.

One of television’s most iconic family sitcoms will be available for the first time as a complete collection wrapped in a sleek family album-style packaging that includes rare photos of the cast and memorable moments from each season.

FAMILY TIES: THE COMPLETE SERIES contains exclusive featurettes including a
10-year reunion special with the cast and series creator, Gary David Goldberg. The collection takes viewers back in time with segments from Entertainment Tonight, 2005’s “Inside The Actors Studio with Michael J. Fox,” and “CBC’s Pacific Report: Michael J. Fox Profile” from 1984. Fans can also go behind-the-scenes with a set visit to season one’s episode, “Not With My Sister You Don’t,” along with a “Sales Presentation” that provides a special, in-depth look at scene highlights from the popular sitcom including commentary from the cast and crew.

Plus, the collection contains a gag reel and the pilot for The Art of Being Nick, which stars Scott Valentine as Nick Moore, who appeared as Mallory’s (Justine Bateman) boyfriend in Family Ties. Additionally, the episode “Trading Places” from the sitcom Day By Day created by Gary David Goldberg is included in the collectible set.

Interesting! I'll probably wait until early next year to buy it (I hope it's not super limited) as I have too much to buy between now and the end of the year, but I'm definitely interested in this.

I hate gimmicky complete series packaging, but I don't have any of the season sets yet and that bonus disc is tempting. Especially for the episode of Day By Day. It was a short lived sitcom that ran for two seasons. The dad on that show had some kind of connection to Steven Keaton (I think they were roommates in college or something).

I actually wouldn't mind a DVD release of Day By Day... or at least a best of set that includes the "A Very Brady Episode", where the son on the show (played by C.B. Barnes who would later play Greg Brady in the two theatrical Brady Bunch movies) is obsessed with a Brady Bunch marathon, and has a dream about being on the show as their son "Chuck" with several original cast members returning.

And I'm done rambling for now!

You've got to be kidding me. They wait until they finish the series out and THEN they announce an awesome complete series set? I feel betrayed

But, of course, this is a must-have set so I'll have to buy it (after I finish grinding my teeth).

It definitely is a bit of a con by the studio. They took years releasing the individual seasons and now decide to issue a complete set.

Really? I guess since WB is releasing the catalog film titles Paramount has to release something. Gives me hope for Frasier on Blu ray.

Love it and can't wait to get it...will wait for a significant price drop before snagging it. I do love the packaging though!

the price does seem a bit high. sure you are getting a ton of episodes but the show hasn't been on for years and chances are it was done on video so the picture quality won't be great so your market is limited compared to other shows. it's around $150 on Amazon right now which is okay but that should be kind of the starting price, not the on-sale price.

I could drop between now and when it comes out.

I got the complete series boxset for $50 last year and am just about to start season four, the first disc of which starts with the Family Ties Vacation movie ("Give me the brush! THE BRUSH!"). I can't wait.
