Kino will be releasing Carl Reiner's comedy Summer Rental (1985), starring John Candy, on Blu-ray on February 18th! It'll be sourced from a 4K scan from the OCN.

I asked in the Kino thread the other week and they said it is coming soon.

This is probably one of those titles that were forced upon Kino in a package deal. They've said comedies don't do well for them. It's '80's John Candy so I'm looking forward to it.

This is one of my dad’s favorite comedies so I’ve been watching it with him every summer since I was little. Pumped it’s finally getting a Blu Ray release.

Nice. Converted the dvd to hdx/1080p on Vudu years back when they still allowed scans from computer drives back when computers with internal dvd-rom drives were still a thing.

Yeah, I doubt this was one that was "forced upon them". Kind of a shame they did a new 4k scan only to release it on Bluray but i'll still happily buy this around release! After Uncle Buck i'll have most of my essential John Candy on physical even though i'd love to see Cool Runnings get a 4k or even non club exclusive BluRay would be awesome.

It's a Carl Reiner film starring John Candy from a 4K scan. it was absolutely not forced on them. This will sell well.

I'll be psyched if they put out Great Outdoors too. The Universal Blu Ray is pretty meh and based on a dated master.
