Default hd players sell like hot cakes. not.

my wife's walmart sold out of those $98 hd dvd players during that 1 day sale. i talked in another thread about how when i asked the electronics department how many hd dvds they'd sold with players that day they told me 3...... total. well a few days later. one of those players was returned. it sat there for a little while, so long so that i marked it to see how long it would sit for. then it was sold again just before xmas (it was the 1 and only player they carried for hd dvd) we just went their today. and it has returned. once again no one wants this poor little player that couldn't.

Wow.

I wonder if the situation is now?:

(1) See amazing price
(2) Grab it
(3) Go home and get on the Internet
(4) Find out the real situation
(5) Return unit

So someone returned it and it's back on the shelf?

Didn't Walmart just get in trouble for selling someone's used product as new?

Tell your wife to mark it "Defective" and return it to Toshiba. Under "Reason for Defect" put: "Doesn't play Blu-ray."

No retailer is going to want to sell HDDVDs or players if so many of them come back.

This is what might force the hand of the studios.
