Default Dated movies

I sat through Ghostbusters this afternoon on UHD Blu Ray. It's very grainy in places (which is here nor there) and the film did seem a tad dated to me.

The first half of the movie is better than the second half. The set-up is better than the payoff.
Some of the special effects are badly dated now - the stop motion sequences and the obvious cartoon effects in CGI. But I do give them credit for the ghost effects. I still don't know how they did the ghost in the library without CGI! The one that used to scare me as a child.

Anyway, the point is, it's dated somewhat. Gozo goes nowhere. The entire top of the building blows up and no one is injured! People become dogs and then climb out of dog shells! HU?

Maybe I've seen the film too much (since I was a child) but it doesn't hold up as well as it once did. Don't get me wrong, there are moments and jokes I love. I like the soundtrack - obviously! Who ya gonna call? But the film is dated.

It's a family film with a dream sequence, BJ joke!

So I put it to you, what movies do you think have dated? Films that you used to love but can now take or leave! Films that you recognise have dated but you still love them. Have ALL the childhood 80's favourites dated? Do you still love Ghostbusters?
