I'd be in for this. I hope more of Bette's titles come out on Blu. Big Business IMO is probably her weakest film of her late 80's comeback period and is the first one out (but I did buy it). I'd definitely be in for this, Ruthless People, Outrageous Fortune and Beaches.... and also The Rose even though that's a different studio and era.

Pauline Kael wrote a very positive & inspiring review of it (in "Hooked", re-printed in "For keeps", so she thought it good, although she seems partial to Mazursky), so after buying and liking films she endorsed ("Hope & Glory", "Stuntman", "Blow out") on Blu-ray, and enjoying them, I'd like to see a this film with a decent image.
It's prob worth it alone for the cameo by Little Richard. Bad thing about BRs is that they make DVDs hard to watch thereafter (like attempting to watch sport in SD ...). I would also like to see Paul Mazursky's other films on BR. |

It's strange because like you say it was a big box office hit and regarded as a film which would be considered a future classic but it seems to have been overlooked in recent years. |

I just don't understand the thinking with Disney. They could easily do a 3 disc Blu-ray set of Ruthless People, Down And Out In Beverly Hills and Outrageous Fortune. They all have HD masters! The DVD set stays in print, while they show no interest in doing a Blu-ray version.
There is plenty of catalogue they have they could do some nice 3-disc Blu-ray sets for. Instead they want us to pay $17.99 for a Digital version to have it in HD. They are easily making more off the Digital versions than any 3-disc Blu-ray set they could easily do. Milking the old DVD and Digital, ignore Blu-ray. I do hope this makes it to Blu-ray someday, it sucks though the studios could care less about better versions and more about profits. I wish their digital prices would drop to like $9.99. Anyway sorry for the rant but as usual Disney continues to ignore bringing some of their catalogue to Blu-ray like it never happened and they act like there is no demand for it to. I was actually surprised that Willow got a rerelease, I just wish they would care more about Blu-ray. Last edited by danny24; 02-24-2020 at 11:51 PM. |
