Finished this last night aside from episode 8* and liked it a lot. Seems like not really anyone is talking about it but I'd enjoy another season for sure
*I learned today that episode 8 has the exact same opening scene as episode 7, so I think it covers the same span of time but from another character's perspective; but when I played it I assumed Hulu was doing that thing it and Netflix sometimes does where it didn't register I'd already watched the episode and automatically moved on to the next because I didn't watch enough of the end credits or whatever, so I skipped to the next episode lol |

I just saw this pop up last night when I opened my Hulu. Had to do a double-take since I hadn't heard anything about it. High Fidelity is absolutely one of my favorite comedies (maybe even Top 5) of all time. Seriously considering giving it a spin, but would it be enjoyable for someone who adores the film?

TV Rob is a depressive, vindictive, manipulative piece of garbage human with little redeeming qualities. The show is also missing the humor the movie has. I hate it, and the show has little reason for having been made at all. Personally, I would not waste your time. |

Wow, I had NO idea this was even a thing. I love the High Fidelity movie. I watched the trailer of this show and thought it was strange that Lisa Bonet was playing the Rob character (when she played Marie De Salle in the movie), but thought "whatever, it's fine I guess." Until I realized it wasn't Lisa Bonet at all. Hahaha. Oops!
Anyway, I don't have Hulu. And DVD Josh's post above makes me feel better about not seeking this show out. All this does is make me want to watch the movie again, starting with that awesome Beverly D'Angelo deleted scene. EDIT: The Rob character is played by Lisa Bonet's daughter. So close enough I guess. I've got two more episodes left so I'll probably finish this weekend. I'm trying to space it out because I don't want it to be over. I love this show. I'm surprised that there doesn't seem to be that much buzz on it. From the sites I go on, this is the only one that anybody is talking about it and even here there's not much discussion. I was listening to Volume on my way to work this morning and they had a re-broadcast of an interview with the cast and Nick Hornby and it made me want to go home and watch more of it. I really hope it gets picked up for a second season.
