Default Help with Optical

Okay so I just picked up an HDMI cable and Optical audio cable. Now my tv has an Optical port and so does my Bose receiver but here's the problem I'm not getting any sound. I've gone into my PS3 and choose the right audio setting for the optical but still no sound. My reciever has these different settings: TV Input, TV, VCR, AUX and I've gone throught all of them and still no sound on any of them, what do I do?

how exactly do you have it connected?

should be optical from the PS3 to the bose.

are you saying you run optical from the TV to the bose instead?

I've got my optical cable bitstreaming from the BDP to the Bose receiver. I've got my receiver set to Aux HDMI 1 when I'm watching the BDP, and the Bose set to TV HDMI 2 when watching the Plasma.

Sorry don't have a PS3, but do have a Bose. Hope that helps some.
