Looks pretty cool. A lot better than that Iconic Artwork steel, went ahead and preordered.

So I quess that's the same "restored" version which have been dnr'd to DEATH by Universal in their almighty wisdom. That's actually the very same cover what was used in previous release, although it was horizontal on the cover.

If the old VC-1 codec disc is inside, then I might be interested.

A lot better? Same art but vertical instead of horizontal
Edit: Nevermind, i just saw the US had another steelbook which indeed looks horrible.

Awesome steelbook for an awesome movie. I missed out on the first release, i'll gladly pick this one up. I also prefer the vertical art, it fits better to my other steelbooks.

Hopefully they are repackaging existing stock to make way for a UHD in the near future.

While the new disc is noise reduced, it looks far better than the old disc. The previous disc was sharpened to hell and looks absolutely awful, especially when compared the newer and more detailed release.

For example, this shot has much more detail in the new release:

https://www.caps-a-holic.com/c.php?d...2&a=1&go=1&l=0

This shot is also far better, with no horrible edge halos around people and much more refined detail:

https://www.caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a...8&l=0&i=3&go=1

And yet again, there's far more detail here. Look at the pins on her outfit and her name tag is actually legible:

https://www.caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a...9&l=0&i=4&go=1

There's also some light grain present, like in the first shot I linked, and it at least hasn't been decimated in the same way as Predator. Even with the noise reduction the previous release is blown out of the water easily, IMO.

While you got a point in there, I'm not totally agree with that, although the facts are obvious with both releases.

Hm in this particular screenshot comparison, the old transfer looks slightly more detailed.
Especially the pores on the forehead and the beard hairs on the cheek.

That being said, i'm fine with whatever disc they use. Both have their pro and con. So no worries from my part.

Don't be fooled. The reason it looks more detailed is because of extreme digital manipulation. That being said the new master has problems of its own but I still prefer it.

Never looked better. With the exception of Logan's Run, of course.

Price makes me think this is a stock dump repackaged. Maybe something better coming in the near future?

Catalog steelbooks from studios are rarely expensive. This is around the going rate for them.

Agreed, just repackaging to move existing stock isn’t it? Would be great to see this film get the treatment it deserves! Criterion or Shout would be awesome!
