Thumbs up Panasonic 2018 flagship UB9000 w/HCX video processor & dynamic conversion adjustment

Here's some very good Panasonic UB9000 news....

As you all know I work closely with Panasonic and we are factory direct dealers. We wanted to hit a price point that would be compelling for the enthusiasts to be happy with and to attract new clients to the world of high-end streaming and disc playback. To that end we came up with a launch price of $999.

Our dedicated UB9000 web page has more information.

Now for some more good news... I mid - end of July I'll have a UB9000 engineering production sample! Hope to see many Blu-ray.com members and visitors at our showroom to audition Panasonic's new flagship UB9000 BD player.

I accidentally found this YouTube video; not the cleanest audio/video wise, but still informative if you take the time ...

OMG, my UB9000 is in transit to me as I write this post!

If all goes as promised by the carrier I'll receive the player this Wednesday!

Correct. This is a sample for me to test and report back on how it operates with multiple TVs, audio receivers and of course, discs. I also report on performance and a wish list of enhancements.

Very much as I did with the UB820 I received last month.

Just a teaser for now with lots more to come tomorrow...

Here's a glimpse of Panasonic's UB9000 Analog Audio Menu. Thanks to the high-end internal audio DAC's and detailed analog audio controls you can connect the stereo XLR balance audio outs directly to a high-end power amplifier. I'll be rocking Hi Res audio and MQA with this baby.

OPPO bids adieu and before I can catch my breath Panasonic, and soon Pioneer, are releasing uber 4k players. Can't wait to read your initial thoughts on the 9000, Robert. Will you be doing the same for the Elite prior to its launch as well?

I'll be posting on my testing and opinions on Panasonic's UB9000 and hope to see many Blu-ray.com members and visitors stopping by our showroom for a person audition.

Not sure if I'll get an advance sample of the Elite player at this moment, but it does interest me.

I thought the UB9000 doesn't decode MQA Robert?

You could get some Japanese MQA-CD's and try it.

Thats one way to expand the content you can listen to. Let us know how it works out. I make use of aptX from computer content/files to players.

Your wish is my command.

Very nice back-lit remote control.

The UB9000 has exceptional build quality.

Can you speak to how well this will down convert HDR into SDR. I hear the 900 is great so I’m hoping it would only be better for the 9000. I’m looking to get a really good player but don’t have enough to get the TV I want yet.

Haven't tried HDR to SDR, but I expect it to be exceptional and this player has very good HDR tone mapping control.

We're doing audio performance tests now and then moving onto video performance tests along with testing the "HDR Optimizer" functions on several TVs and projectors.

Would love to know how the 820 does with HDR to SDR.

Thanks for the pictures. No universal power supply darn it.

The remote looks the same overall as the 900 model. The 820 has a different remote, doesn't it? No backlight button?

Looks like the UB900 remote, but it has some different function buttons that match the new abilities/features.

Also true, no back-light on the UB820 remote, but the UB9000 is back-lit.
