OK just got a new TV (Vizio PX65-G1 for $899 at Costco). The 1st movie watched was Doctor Sleep via a Roku Ultra and purchased on the Apple TV app. Noticed a crazy amount of blooming or digital artifacts (especially at 1:48:25) while watching. Of course the wife did not notice.
So of course I scoured the internet and tried changing settings for TV and making sure Roku settings were good. No improvement. Tried watching on VUDU and Movies Anywhere apps and also no improvement. Bought a new HDMI cable, also no improvement. Thought maybe it was the TV and even considered returning it even though the wife approved of the purchase. But then I watched this scene on a Xbox One S via the VUDU app and it crystal clear. It was also in Dolby Vision. Now entertaining the thought of buying an Apple TV for more Dolby Vision. Anyone who has watched Doctor Sleep with a ROKU Ultra how was your picture. Please also let me know what kind of TV you have, especially if your picture was great. Should I get and Apple TV? Thanks for any thoughts. |
