Fingers crossed for a remaster. I long to see the non-nutritive cereal varnish in better detail.

Hmm.. I see this has been released twice already.
I'm expecting the same transfer with AVC encode this time and lossless audio. Nothing more.

By the way, it would be great if they had used the original poster for the steelbook cover:

I don't know but rarely I like a bluray cover anymore...
Unless it's the original film poster..

Man, are they really going to release this yet a 3rd time without a new transfer!

Hopefully, with the recent string of remasters that have come out lately, maybe they finally changed their ways.

Warner = the re-release kings

I sure hope it's a new transfer, but if not, then hopefully at least a lossless audio track upgrade this time around!

This movie is 26 years old...the original blu-ray looks like ass. This and A Christmas Story are in desperate need of some love.

Yeah, it's hard to top Warner for re-releases with same transfer. How many times did they do this for Goodfellas before it finally happened?

Of course I just picked this up on blu last year... Will be in if new transfer, or if I just can't resist!

But Diamond Luxe with artwork would be awesome for this!

Aside from a remaster, it's also in need of a new audio track. The DD 2.0 from the original release sucks.

Also, this is the movie's 26th anniversary. Since we didn't get a release last year I wasn't expecting anything. It could be a nice surprise.

If the only good thing this POS remake is going to give us -- is hopefully a lossless track and, at the least, a new encode of Christmas Vacation -- I can live with that.

Doesn't look like they will use the poster art which is a shame. it isn't like it would confuse a consumer in Target as to what film they are buying. if it doesn't get a remaster and HD audio after all these years that would be a huge waste.

A Christmas Story gets the same poor re-issues and for films like these that bring decent sales each year they should be preserved better.

POS remake?!?! Wait... wut?

I think you are . This isn't a remake. This is the original and only version of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

If it comes with a lossless audio track and/or a new transfer, I'll double dip. Otherwise I'll pass.

I'll definitely pick this up if given a new transfer, it surely needs it. I'll even pick it up if a new AVC high bitrate encode is used. I won't pick it up if nothing is done at all!!!! This film is a Christmas classic and needs to be treated as such. And as others have said, so does A Christmas Story!!

Nope, I'm not confused lol. I'm talking about the horrible new Vacation movie in theaters now, which is almost certainly providing a marketing hook for this new Christmas Vacation release to happen. If it wasn't, you'd have seen a proper 25th Anniversary CV release last year (but we didn't).

Ah... I understand. You should have been more specific then. By only saying "this POS remake" you were effectively talking about the thread topic film since no mention of the current National Lampoon "offering" had been made prior to your statement.

And yes, you are still actually confused since this latest incarnation of Vacation is not actually a remake. It is clearly, by definition, a sequel.

It's considered a soft-reboot of the franchise. It's not an actual continuation of the original series.

Also, this new film doesn't have the National Lampoon branding.

Call it whatever you want, but it has the same exact plot as the 1983 film. I guess it's a sequel, in theory, yes, but really, it's a remake in the guise of a sequel. Ed Helms is playing Ed Helms, he's called Rusty but he's certainly not the same character as seen in any of the prior movies (it's like he took a stupid pill all of a sudden lol), etc. Yeah, you get a Chevy and Beverly cameo near the end -- but otherwise, it certainly doesn't feel like a continuation of any of the prior movies. More like a super-raunchy remake of them (and specifically the 1983 original).

To me, it's like the last version of THE THING -- which was technically a "prequel" by definition even though it was really a remake, with the same recycled scenes from the 1982 movie showing up throughout it.
