Haven't seen Troll 1 yet, but I have #2 on BD already. Is the first one a "so bad it's good" movie like the second one is, or is it just bad?

IMO, the first is much better than the second.

I haven't seen it in a very long time but I really liked it when I was a kid. It's Not a "so bad it's good" kind of movie like Troll 2 though.

They have nothing in common, other than the name.. And the genre I guess. Here's a review of the Troll trilogy:

The MGM anniversary release of Troll 2 is really good, I would've never believed that Troll 2 could look so good. Judging by their track record, the Shout release will probably have worse PQ. I'm guessing that they only made this "Troll/Troll 2" double feature is to differentiate from the MGM release. But it would've made way more sense if they made it a Troll 2/Best Worst Movie double feature. Even though Best Worst Movie was only shot in SD, it would still be really nice to have it on a blu ray disc next to a HD presentation of Troll 2.

My collection (and horror in general) is severely lacking solid Troll, Goblin, and/or ghoul like films. I'm all over this one for sure.

I REALLY REALLY hope that Shout includes Contamination .7 (aka: Troll III) as a bonus feature. They already have the rights and even if they just throw it on in SD it would be a plus. Can't wait to retire my MGM dvds.

Yeah, I was wondering about the PQ too. Chances are that I'll be keeping the MGM copy as well as the SF one (just like I did with Mad Max and Escape from NY). My primary interest in this would be getting the first film. Extras wound be nice too, who knows?

It's nice too see the first one finally getting a release. I've only seen that one once that I can recall. The second is a whole different story - a quite dramatic divergence that I've seen a multitude of times.

If anything one should consider the first Troll as a bonus feature. It is all about part 2 anyway and you know it
