The Wayans Family Movie Appreciation

The Wayans family - mainly Keenen, Marlon, Shawn and Damon - have either directed, wrote, or starred in highly entertaining movies over the years. While many may be silly, they are generally highly entertaining and absolutely rewatchable. I remember being excited to see new trailers for their films and was there around opening day for a majority of them.

While I wouldn’t necessarily think much of Keenen as a prominent action star, I was extremely excited to see him star in those action movies of his. When I was a teenager, watching trailers of The Glimmer Man and Most Wanted were epic in my mind (those 90s action movie trailers with the trailer voice man, all edited in that awesome 1990s action film way).

My favorite - Damon - really should have continued in films. Sure he had his tv show, but I really loved him the most as a movie star. It’s too bad he isnt a big Hollywood star anymore as in the 1990s.

Marlon just makes me crack up with whatever her does - his characters are so memorable in White Chicks, Don’t Be a Menace.

Shawn - I dont think he’s so special - but I think he is like a good sport to tag along with the crazy ideas of his brother. He’s likable but certainly not as talented as his other family members.

Interesting that they really focus on comedy when they all have potential to do great serious roles, especially Marlon’s outstanding performance in Requiem for a Dream. I only remember Kim Wayans from In Living Color but I hear she had a great performance in the movie Pariah.
