The Texarkana Gazette broke the news -- Pamula Pierce Barcelou, daughter of director Charles B. Pierce, has regained the rights to his beloved bigfoot docudrama THE LEGEND OF BOGGY CREEK (1972) and is currently working on a full restoration in conjunction with the George Eastman Museum in New York for both theatrical re-release and home video.

Oh man... this is great news. Just the other day I was thinking about this. Glad the legal stuff is cleared up, I was hoping that wouldn't be a stumbling block forever. This movie made a lot of money back in the day - far too much for it to languish in obscurity. This and Creature From Black Lake on blu-ray is a bigfoot fan's dream. Who doesn't like bigfoot? Nobody - this is fantastic.

The Town That Dreaded Sundown is awesome but this is a dud, IMO.

And as an aside, the "Travis Crabtree" song is one of the most cringe-worthy things my ears have ever had the misfortune to suffer.

They are both stinkers, much like any film Pierce was in control of.

I saw this in the theater back when it was released. Thought it was cool as a 12 year old. Not sure how I would view it today.

With the exception of Pierce inserting himself as ill-fitting comic relief, I feel that TTTDS is a strong, well-made horror docudrama.

This topic did revive some interest I had in watching Creature from Blake Lake; think I'll give that a whirl on the old YouTube later on.

I am ashamed to admit that this is the first time I've heard about this movie. It looks great at least to say, even the trailer is pure gold for the eyes of the 70's fan for christ's sake. Where the hell I have been?

Just rewatched this on Shudder as part of Joe Bob Briggs' Last Drive-In. It's been a favorite since childhood, and I even like the Travis Crabtree song. (I find it to be weirdly inspired filler.)
