Cannes Film Festival Completes Official Selection of 2022 Lineup

The Cannes Film Festival has added a string of new titles to its Official Selection, including three movies in competition, Léonor Serraille’s “Un Petit Frere,” Albert Serra’s “Tourment sur les iles” and “Le Otto Montagne” by Charlotte Vandermeersch and Felix Van Groeninge.

Other movies that have been added to the lineup incude Serge Bozon’s “Don Juan” and Emmanuel Mouret’s “Chronique d’une liaison passagère” have been added to the Cannes Premiere, a new section launched last year; while Louis Garrel’s “L’innocent,” a drama starring Garrel, Anouk Grinberg and Noémie Merlant, will play out of competition.

Well, IMO it'd be cooler of them to use a Peter Weir movie that had been previously accepted to play at Cannes, but I guess the breadth and depth of the final scene from The Truman Show is good choice too. I assumed when I first saw them use that for the official art that maybe they were honoring the director Peter Weir with a lifetime achievement award. The last time he was recognized for anything at Cannes was in 1983 when The Year of Living Dangerously was a nominee. But no other films before or after that.
