So last night, a few of my recent additions (Resident Evil Afterlife, and 1917) had the Atmos symbol removed and now list DD 5.1 as the primary language. I did not check my entire library, only the recent additions, but I’m sure there must be other titles that have had the Atmos removed last night as well.
I did check the movies and they still stream Atmos, but should I expect the Atmos tracks to disappear since they have been downgraded in the iTunes Store? Or is this just inconsistencies with the listings? If these titles have indeed been downgraded, I’m seriously going to rethink ever purchasing movies from ITunes again as I primarily purchase titles for the Atmos tracks. Edit... additional titles missing Atmos: Blade Runner 2049 Bloodshot Cabin in the Woods Deadpool Divergent: Insurgent Dolittle Ghostbusters 2 The Grinch Jumanji Next Level EDIT: despite the store and one’s own library having the Atmos banner removed and primary language listed as DD 5.1, when you press the menu button while playing the movie, the correct banners are now showing up. As mentioned previously, the movies all still stream Atmos despite the changes to the store and ones own library. Last edited by cmay91472; 05-04-2020 at 12:51 AM. |

They are likely fixing something with the tracks. This happens all the time, though maybe not in as high of numbers as lately. They may be adjusting the encoding or something. But they usually all come back. I seriously doubt they will be downgraded “permanently”.

I think playing back in Atmos is more important than a tag so not worried here.

Last night, I was considering buying La Llorona but didn’t because of conflicting info on the listing. No Atmos banner, but it did list Atmos as the primary language. Sigh... but you are right... so far, the few I tested are still streaming Atmos and that’s all that really matters. |

Personally I think you should just sit back and enjoy the movies instead of worrying about what tag it may or may not have.
I miss those simpler times when you used to be able to just watch a movie and enjoy it without worrying yourself silly if it was playing in 4K etc or not. |

Digitals are more inconsistent with their A/V specifications than their physical media counterparts. To know exactly, you'll have to watch the movie to determine if it contains the A/V specs that's listed. There are so many streaming services, you really don't know what you're actually getting.
