New Blu-ray case? - Blu-ray Forum

Hi guys,

Was having a look at Amazon and DVD Empire.

The covers for Hidalgo and Coyote Ugly are showing up as the following,

Is this a new case or just a slip cover?

I kinda like the cases the way they are. If it's not broke don't fix it. . .

On the other hand, maybe I just don't like change. If this is how all of them will look in the future I guess I get over it.

Maybe it's one of those cardboard covers over the case.

could be generic covers just to show you what it looks like or something like that

I have yet to see a case like this in stores, but it is probably just for the the cover art on the sit. I would not be suprised though if this was a new type of case.

It might also be an attempt to differentiate in the key art in advertising

as long as the text isnt 2 large i wouldnt mind an embossed box like that

Either a slipcase or some sort of studio cover art.

It is definately NOT the case. Note that the cases always have rounded corners! And the BD logo image is embossed within an oval in the top & centre of the case.

I doubt seriously that this is some sort of new design or cover concept. If it is...well, I'm not really partial to it.

I've seen a similar mockup before, Debbie Does Dallas Again had that "Blu-Ray Disc" text at the top like that. Can someone confirm that didn't end up as the case?
