I don't know what to think of this. But, according to an article over at TVLine, USA Network has canceled The Purge and Treadstone. This isn't what caught my eye. But another part of the article that clarified that USA Network would be transitioning away from scripted television to live programming and unscripted television.
https://tvline.com/2020/05/13/the-pu...3-usa-network/ That sounds an awful lot like USA is converting to reality TV and other sports entertainment shows like UFC, WWE and the like. MTV did this and shifted away from its nom-de-plume, music television. SyFy has been trying to do that as well, but, they still produce scripted original television shows and movies. While Covid-19 has shifted Hollywood's priorities as they attempt to save the movie theater experience, I can't help but wonder if we're seeing the end of scripted television among the cable networks. |
