Vinegar Syndrome UHD Discussion Thread

Considering how incredibly stacked with UHDs VS's 2022 schedule is looking, I think it's time to start this thread. Take a look for yourself:

In 2022, we're massively stepping up our UHD game and expect to be HEAVILY under-promising with this working schedule, meaning you'll almost certainly be adding a few more 4K discs to your collection than expected.

January 2022:
4 releases totaling $225.92 (MSRP)
Including: DEAD HEAT (UHD/BD combo), CURFEW, MASTER OF THE WORLD and a Forgotten Gialli box set (featuring ARABELLA BLACK ANGEL and two more perverse treasures)

February 2022:
3 releases $130.94 (MSRP)
Including: HARD ROCK ZOMBIES, a supernatural horror/thriller, and a beloved piece of Universal Pictures financed weirdness

March 2022:
3 releases totaling $135.94 (MSRP)
Including: A UHD double feature and two more BDs

April 2022:
3 releases totaling $135.94 (MSRP)
Including: The UHD premier of an action packed, 80s exploitation classic and two more horror BDs

May 2022:
5 releases totaling $230.90 (MSRP)
Including: the worldwide UHD/Blu-ray debut of THRILLER: A CRUEL PICTURE, plus 1 other UHD, a BD double feature that we’ve been working on for years, and two other gems.
(includes two Halfway to Black Friday surprise titles)

June 2022:
No releases planned

July 2022:
3 releases totaling $128.94 (MSRP)
Including: 3 horror and exploitation BDs

August 2022:
4 releases totaling $178.92 (MSRP)
Including: A UHD debut of a 70s horror classic, SHIREK OF THE MUTILATED, and a duo of 80s sci-fi and action BDs

September 2022:
4 releases totaling $225.92 (MSRP)
Including: A UHD debut of a massive 70s horror hit, a Forgotten Gialli box set, and two more horror BDs

October 2022:
4 releases totaling $232.92 (MSRP)
Including: Home Grown Horrors Vol2 box set (featuring MOONSTALKER + two other gems), two UHD debuts of a duo of 80s creature horror classics, plus one more never-on-Blu horror film

November 2022:
5 releases totaling $235.90 (MSRP)
Including: Three horror (and horror adjacent) UHDs, including some never-on-disc titles + two additional Blus.
(includes two Black Friday surprise titles)

December 2022:

Could VS be the ones that might of nabbed "Carrie"? I can't think of too many other "massive" 70s horror hits and they have had MGM deals.

As much as I love them, VS and hyperbole aren't exactly strange bedfellows, so we should probably wait and see just how 'massive' this film is.

I would be very, very, very surprised. “Massive” in VS terms doesn’t usually mean the same thing it would for other labels.

Should a list of already released 4K titles be added to the first? It would be help people keep track of all the 4K titles that have already been released by VS.

Looks like an interesting year. Don't think I'll be resubscribing this year but I'm sure I'll pick up some UHDs. Maybe next year they'll do a UHD-only subscription.

They’re gonna be reissuing one of their horror titles in UHD during the upcoming Valentine’s Day sale.



My guess is Madman but it could be a lot of different titles.

No, just something they’ve already released on BD.

I'm guessing Madman. It was a 4K master, it's a slasher that will sell well, and it's been out long enough where too many people wont feel ripped off for buying the bluray. Best to avoid a situation like Blue Underground where their first handful of 4Ks came out so shortly after everyone bought pricey BD editions of the same titles.

Since it’s a Valentines Day sale maybe Psychos in Love? The restoration was from a 2K scan so that would make it less likely. In terms of 4K scans my guess is Mausoleum

They redid sexworld from scratch and its first blu was a 4k scan, so I assume whatever they do will be a fresh scan.

I don’t think they actually rescanned it, did they? They said they did some additional cleanup work on the restoration, but from my understanding they still used the same source scan.
