Forever I've waited for at least a DVD release of this Wertmuller masterpiece to include the original English dubbed track. When I first saw this movie it was the RCA/Columbia VHS release. Both the dialogue-which ranges from razor sharp political realism to side splitting hilarity-and those dubbing actors were absolutely perfect!! Unlike the total success I had with https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Spiri...Blu-ray/13523/ for over 15 years I've yet to interest Criterion Collection, VCI, Olive and Arrow films and numerous others into make this happen. And when the Kino release happened, like Image Ent DVD release, there was no mention even at the Kino website that the English dubbed track was included. So I assumed as much.
Now I see this https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Swept...lu-ray/182730/ where the reviewer notes the "shrill dubbing that's poorly done, barely matching the actors". I'll take what's heard in English over better nuanced lipsyncing anytime, especially in this case. BUT this BD edition actually HAS the ORIGINAL English dubbed track??? If so, please don't tell me it's OPP!! |
