Default Onkyo 705

Circuit city has it for $585 after 10% off coupon, the refurb at shoponkyo.com I think is $439 after 10 onkyo points. Seems they never have the 705 refurb often though.

So, is it worth the $150 saving to buy the refurb or worth buying new to get a 2 year warranty?

I picked on up on Friday for $585, I think it's a good deal. They are selling out at all the stores in my area, I was happy I paid for mine online early friday morning. Get yours while you can!! You wont regret it.

Yes, I think that $585 is a great deal, I may have to grab one!

But then I look at see the 605 for only $339 for refurb, but I want that 100W per channel and 3 HDMI inputs, the THX is a bonus I guess.

I read up on the 605 v. 705, I believe the 705 is worth the extra cash. You get one more HDMI + other inputs, THX cert (lower THD), Internal fans, +10W per channel, blue light around volume knob, and a nicer backlit remote!!

I believe I can get a brand new 705 for $500 from my cousins discount he gives me. I think I'll get it once I receive my tax refund. After the receiver I'll put the rest of the money away.

I was going to go with the 605, but I also want the extra wattage and HDMI port; who knows what extra devise that has a HDMI connectivity that I will be getting next (don't worry it won't be an HD DVD player).

Even though I am currently happy running my audio through toslink and also the fact that I really don't want to spend the money, I can't pass up this offer. I guess I'll try to have to sell my other receiver on ebay or craigs list for a hundred bucks.

Not the best way I'm sure but I got it on ebay, So I pay $5 for the coupon and save $60 on the 705. Unless someone knows where to get a 10% code?

Smile I bought mine since Dec. 2007

I bought the TX-705 for $585.00 since December 2007 from Crutchfield.

It does worth this much money and it is brand new otherwise it is better than 605 and i heard that 805 have some kind of overheat problems.. so 705 is the best.

I am currently using 2 out of 3 HDMI input for outputting the HDMI out to my HDTV. Nothing but the PS3 and my computer wtih hdmi video card hooking up. I might add an blu-ray rom for my pc if i want to.

I have no problem with it, i enjoyed it. its an 5 out of 5 for me.

Default oh one more thing....

THX Natural 7.1 is awesome!!!

Dolby TruHD is awesome when watching Resident Evil 3 on blu-ray.

DTS-HD does decode but my PS3 cant decode dts-hd master yet, i hope this will be in the upcoming firmware update.

PCM is always on for gaming and some blu-ray plus it can be mix up with THX or others...

Lets say this receiver can mix up Dolby Digital 5.1 with THX Surround or DTS 5.1 with Dolby Pro Logic IIx.

This 705 does all kind of combination mixes with surround modes. I love it!!

i ended up paying $579 from J&R. I originally bought it on Friday for 649 but then saw it on vanns.com for 599 so i called and asked them to price match. They price matched and beat it by $20 bucks. and free shipping

Anyone with the 705's had any problem with sound latency? I try to configure Rock Band and it's saying I'm getting 180 ms audio lag from this receiver. Not sure if I've got a defective one or if I'm doing something wrong.
