I loved the film itself but I thought Hereditary had an awful trailer.

Since spoilers will be a prevalent subject in this thread, there was a study a ways back that showed moviegoers don’t really mind being spoiled by trailers.

Pretty much all the trailers for The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water were really bad in retrospect, since they put so much focus on the final 20 minutes of the movie. The fact that they were so misleading doesn't really bother me personally too much (since I liked that most of the movie was traditionally animated), but the fact that 80% of the gags from the final act were spoiled in the trailers really hampered my enjoyment of it the first time I saw it.

Yeah, I reckon that nothing can beat Cats. "Here you go; our film is a piece of crap, we know it and we just want to clear it off our books asap, so we can all go on Holiday."

I didn't get to experience watching the Cats trailer in a theater, but I did get to watch the Star Trek trailer with the Beastie Boys song plastered all over it, to which my friend turned to me and in her wisdom said this: "How many people do you think would have bought tickets for Schindler's List, if the trailer for that film had been accompanied by an ABBA song?"
