Hello!
I'm in the process of finalising the design of my new home and the home cinema room is starting to drive me insane. I'm pretty sure I'm just over thinking everything, but wanted to bounce some ideas off the experienced people here. Here goes. Room dimensions: 5.780 metres (L) 4.2 metres (W) 2.7 metres (H) My original plan was to use 50mm thick Autex QuietSpace panels 2400mm (H) x 1200mm (W) covered with Vertiface http://www.ordioacoustics.com.au/pro...ce-50mm-panel/ at the reflection points and Autex QuietSpace 3D tiles as diffusors http://www.ordioacoustics.com.au/pro...pace-3d-tiles/ I have since considered treating the entire wall surface with 25mm Autex QuietSpace panels (these would be cut to size to cover the entire surface of the walls) http://www.ordioacoustics.com.au/pro...de-panel-25mm/ covered with Vertiface http://www.ordioacoustics.com.au/pro...tex-vertiface/, attach Vicoustic Multi-user DC2's to the roof and walls for diffusion https://vicoustic.com/product/multif...finishes=White and add in 3 Vicoustic Super Bass Extreme Ultra bass traps to each corner http://https://vicoustic.com/product/super-bass-extreme-ultra?g=0&melamine-colors=Natural%20Oak Interested in some feedback. Happy to answer any other questions you may have, but really want to get a discussion happening and some helpful advice. Over to you! Last edited by djdirty75; 06-28-2020 at 07:49 PM. |

There are a couple of schools of thought with respect to covering the entire wall(s) with absorption panels. I have been in rooms where it was too much, and the room was dead sounding. For a recording studio, it might be the way to go, but for a home theater, my opinion is that you want some liveliness to the room. I don’t have experience with the thinner panels to know if they would allow for some, so maybe reach out to the company? Same thing with the ceiling, as I would not have diffusers everywhere. Something I appreciate is how sound rolls or moves along the ceiling with various effects, and a ceiling covered with diffusers may prevent that from happening. I subscribe to the idea that you want absorption panels in key areas (Points of first reflection, front and rear walls, additional side wall placement) along with some diffusers, but still allow the room to breathe a bit.
