I don't know if PS+ users could "Purchase" this to keep if your membership lapsed but nice of Sony i guess to give solid freebies like this to those that haven't got them.

Wow, to think I was on the verge of purchasing Journey on the PS Store not too long ago. Very exciting to get it for free now.

They don't mention anything related to PS+ on the article so that would imply its yours to keep regardless of having a PS+ membership or not. These look to me like independent downloads and are not affiliated to a PS+ account.

Once you redeem the games, they are yours to keep.

The problem he is referring to is that they have been PS+ games before and if you redeem a PS+ game it takes away the option to purchase it if you want to permanently own it without PS+.

Yeah, that's kind of the issue where you can sometimes "Select Version" but i'm not sure if this will be available so i'll report back here when i get a chance to test it out.

I’m sure Sony would come up with a workaround on that as they are aware they were both offered on PS+ before. These are legitimately yours to keep, unlike a PS+ membership where it’s not really yours.

Good old Sony, giving us two games we already received via PS+. Would have been a better idea to give us two fresh games then everyone would benefit. We line Sony’s pockets, they say stuff the folk who pay for a sub.

I wasn’t a PS+ member in 2016 when they offered Journey, so it’s a benefit for me and I’ll gladly take it

Just as a heads up for those that want to snag Knack 2 for free. If you create a German PlayStation Network account, they'll be giving Knack 2 away for free. You just have to set the account as primary to the console and can play on your regular account. Just make sure to remember the sign in details somewhere safe.

I own both those games (purchased before they were PS+ lol), I wish they had, say a choice of 5-10 games that you can choose 2 of.

But I'm assuming I'd own those 5-10 games lol

....and it's something that boggles my mind that they have yet to fix. Surely it costs them a decent amount of money. There's numerous sales where I would of bought things but couldn't because of that Plus issue. On the positive side, if you aren't a Plus member at the time to buy/redeem a game you can actually do it and Plus doesn't get in the way.

Was just thinking that maybe, just maybe Sony might give us the Collector's Edition of Journey. Could be a longshot but still. It would be cool if they did. I saw they have two versions on the PS store.

I already got both from PlayStation plus before.

Just to confirm, I went to the store on my PS4 and went to the deal for the free games. I downloaded these again and it confirmed that I had now “purchased” it.
And my library confirms that these titles are no longer under my “plus” section.

So for all the people who got these from their “plus” before, you can get these again to be “purchased”. So even when your plus subscription ends, you can keep these games.

Edit: not sure if it mattered, but both games were uninstalled before I went to the store to download again.

It's like all they have to do is keep the buy links active and then display a prominent warning if you try to buy it, that you already have it free through plus, are you sure you want to buy it?

They are giving away free games for people who are in larger than usual numbers...staying at home.

Whining about a company giving away games for free boggles my mind.

I downloaded them. I last played Uncharted 1-3 on PS3 - great games. Journey is short, but a decent afternoon killer that is a bit of a different kind of game. My 7 year old loves it.
