i have been reading the forums for about a month or so but just joined yesterday. I just wanted to share my expeiriences with the people I talk to about the HD format wars. I have got about 3 people to buy a ps3 because it is a 2 in 1 deal(games and movies) Some of my co-workers say that I should work for sony.

I've been reading the forums here since May 2007, right after I bought my first Blu (Casino Royale) and this site is my primary source for Movie releases, reviews, etc. I finally joined the discussions on November 2007...

Hey, why not find out what the new people think of us.

As for the new people, that really is good advise. Use the search function before you post. A lot of answers can be found pretty easily here, without creating the same thread over and over again.

I say Congratulations! I joined in july i think but ive made blu-ray.com my months before that, just took me some while to finally register. Glad i thing, couldnt ask for a better online community to spend my time with.

There is really a lot of information you can learn in here.I've learned a lot about other things like my receiver and t.v. from members in here that really know what they are talking about,Plus if you have a PS3 there's a whole bunch of members to help you out.Just check the forums for your Questions first because most of the time one of us new members have already ask the question.Welcome ABOARD!

I've been reading for a few weeks, and it helped me with a couple purchases, finally joined last weekish. My only complaint is using the search feature here, seems everytime I try to search for something half of what I put in is ignored for being too short. Happened to me searching for ps3 bitstream to figure out how to set up the receiver I am buying so I knew ahead of time what to do.

Even since the early 90's when my first dabblings on the net still involved text-only communication - people have thrown around the phrase "online community".

This is really the first time I've felt like a community really exists, after a while you DO get a sense of people's (online) personalities, and some really great dialog goes on around here... It's really the first time I've found myself thinking "I wonder what so-and-so had to say about this..."

Myself, I never had any real interest in the AVS forum, but a few other sites briefly held my interest until I found Blu-ray.com

I found the community here much more helpful and truly knowledgeable about high definition. Even when I didn't have a question about Blu-ray everyone here was eager to help me resolve my issues.

What about you?

I've been using online forums of one sort or another for over 20 years now.

Blu-ray.com's a nice place. A little intense, but that's to be expected considering how new the tech is. It's a well-managed and well-moderated site, and is a fun place to be around as long as you aren't one of those dreaded owners of red cased discs.

I'm a member over at AVS, too, and that place is a little different. At its best, AVS is a great place to hang out to find out how to get the best audio/visual equipment, as well as making the most out of the gear you already have. The high definition forums there, on the other hand, have been a constant battleground for the better part of three years, and while the recent rules changes over there have toned down the level of vitriol, it's still pretty hostile over there. If you're a Blu-ray only owner, I don't recommend participating in their HDM forums unless you're able to keep your cool yet still deliver a stinging tongue-lashing without breaking any rules of civility - or have an unusually thick skin. A lot of the membership here at Blu-ray.com are ex-patriates from AVSForum.

I've been a member of many other forums on many other topics over the years. Each has its own look and feel. Some have been even nicer than this place, but for HDM discussions centering on Blu-ray and the PS3, this is by far the best site, hands down.
