Default Region-Free Panasonic DP-UB820 Playback Issues

Greetings all,

Just picked up a region-free Panasonic DP-UB820 from 220 Elec. Had a region B Blu-Ray from the British Film Institute I wanted to play... the player booted up ok, loaded the film, and it played... but the sound was all slowed down slightly. Music was off-key, voices were slightly lower, etc. Pretty new to how all this is supposed to work, but was wondering if this is something normal or if my player perhaps has an issue. I know there's the whole PAL/NTSC difference piece, but I thought their mods are supposed to handle that (?). Anyway, would greatly appreciate any thoughts/feedback.

In addition to the player, I have it hooked up to a Yamaha RX-A2070 receiver, and a Sony XBR 940E 75" TV.

Mods are designed to defeat disc region coding, nothing more.

220 Electronics warrant their modded players; I would contact them if further trouble shooting doesn't help. Try another region B disc and see how it does.

My modified player is a different brand, but discs play fine no matter the region coding present on them.

Which title is it? It is maybe an isolated issue with the title and the way that it is transferred or encoded, rather than your system or AVR unit...

Excellent point. The disc that he tried could be defective, too.

If the player, or some other piece of gear, their connections and/or settings, is at fault other discs will manifest similar problems. Try some other Region B discs and see how they do.
