Hey Everyone!
I've got a question I'm needing some feedback on and would appreciate it if you'd share your thoughts with me. At Right Stuf Anime, we announced a while back that we'd be putting out Irresponsible Captain Tylor on Blu-ray. Due to the large volume of materials we have for the show, we can't decide what all to include or even to offer. So, things we're looking at: -Blu-ray for TV Series and OVA Series (of course) -Super nice box -Srt book (like what we did for the ARIA Kickstarter and are working on for the Emma Kickstarter) -Some kind of figure. We don't have the details locked down so I can't give an estimate about pricing or things like that but wanted to take any feedback from anyone willing to give it and see where interest levels are at. Thank you in advance, we're getting closer! ![]() |

All that sounds great to me. That ARIA kickstarter was great and everything I got from it was pretty cool. The artbox to hold the series was the one thing I wanted the most so having one for this series is good to hear. It would be cool if it was possible for the artbook to fit in the artbox like you did with G Gundam and Gundam 00. Also please just make it a simple artbox like Aria and not one like you have been doing for the Gundam series with a box within a box. Don't care for that.
Lastly the stuff like the mug and office supplies didn't do much for me. Having a lithograph or a nice art print to frame would be better. Also, if you're doing a figure better be a legit waifu. I don't have much knowledge of this series so depending on what you offer and how things look I will probably back it. Yes. Please no digi-paks. EVER. Tylor on BD would be a day-1 sort of purchase for me, definitely. The discs, a nice box, and artbook would be higher priorities. A figure, depends on the figure...

Personally, I don't care for big over-the-top packaging (please no Digipaks), but instead prefer supplemental material akin to what The Criterion Collection puts on their discs, such as translations of interviews or booklets of previous Japanese releases, like the Utena box set had. Subtitled audio commentaries are also a plus for me.
Essentially, the Tylor equivalent of book from the Utena box set would make me go for a collector's edition release. |

I agree with no Digipaks. Mainly, I'd love a set with regular blu-ray cases in a nice slipbox that makes getting the discs out easy.
I also am kinda fond of episode guides if that could be included as part of an artbook. |

^^ I agree with my compadres above wrt bonus features.
A litho, similar in nature to what Shout/Scream offer with their CEs would be nice but rolled and tubed, not folded (as they have proven is easy enough to do ![]() A comprehensive and translated booklet containing pertinent info is always welcome but I'm personally not a fan of artcards, though again an artbook would be great! ![]() Statues are either; - too expensive for a nice one, or - too cheap and shoddy to be worthwhile to include in a collection so I'd personally pass on that. Thanks very much for asking for our opinion! ![]() |

I've been waiting for this release forever. I was one of the original DVD supporters (with the name in the credits) back before Kickstarter existed. Feels like forever waiting for this! Release it and I will buy it! I agree with others I'd rather have regular cases then digipacks. A steelbook would be nice if that's a possibility. Haven't seen any Tylor figures so not sure what sort of figure you guys might offer. Artbooks and nice container box are always welcome. Perhaps a poll on figure choices? I agree a lithograph or art print is nice too. I don't need a lot of chintzy stuff, just a few nice quality items that enhance enjoyment of the show.

My preference is standard Blu-ray case in a nice chipboard box or slip box (a la Aniplex). As for extras, a small booklet is nice that goes in the slip box with the BD case but I'm not crazy about really fat or oversized packaging. I like to be able to put it on my shelf with all my other titles without it sticking out like a sore thumb. I couldn't care less about extra swag like figures and such, but CD soundtracks are a nice bonus. I can't wait for this release!

I have never seen this series, but was looking to buy the DVD release up until I heard that it was licensed for a blu-ray release a few months ago.
Things that would make me want to buy the set:

Well, here are my two cents of a few things I wouldn't mind seeing:
- numbered boxes (why don't more companies do this?) - a rigid art box w/ original artwork (if possible) - clear amaray cases (or use red BD cases to emulate Tylor's coat) - art book - soundtrack (preferably vinyl, but cd in it's own amaray case is fine too) - previous special features from the dvd ultra collection should be included - instead of a figure do an enamel pin Last edited by gloomranger; 05-18-2020 at 10:58 PM. My 2 cents:
Everything must fit in a rigid artbox. I like to have everything easily accessible. This means no artcards shrinkwrapped to the outside of a box (looking at you funimation), no artcards in little plastic baggie shoved into the box (Lazy AoA GoS LE DVD release), no oversized artbooks that must be shelved separately, etc. I don't mind if the artbox is DVD sized in order to fit things in. I do prefer artbooks, artcards, interviews, on disc extras, music CDs. I'm ok with digipacks, steelcases, or regular BD cases, but by all that is holy if its normal BD cases use a different color than blue or make them clear. I'm not a figure collector as I don't have the room for them and they are like crack cocaine for anime collectors (my cousin had a whole garage full of all sorts of figures, not just anime--then he got married ![]() No stickers! I'm not 5 anymore. |

I'm not a fan of big bulky sets and would prefer a lot of material on the disc. Commentaries, interviews, storyboards, etc. I wouldn't really care for a figurine. If I HAD to choose some sort of miscellaneous phyiscal item, I would prefer something small like a lapel pin, keychain, or coin over a figurine. As long as the material fits in the box, I'll probably be cool with it. Artbooks, lithographs, posters, soundtrack cds would be cool.

YES! FINALLY AN UPDATE!!! I've been waiting for the Captain Tylor BD for so long :-) :-)
As for what I would like to personally see out your Collector's Edition? Here's what I'd like: - A chipboard box with awesome artwork that has an emphasis of the color of red - Red amaray Blu Ray cases to match Tylor's Red Jacket (like with what other companies have done when doing Akira editions to match his red jacket) - An OST on CD (preferably to be in chipboard box) - Character art cards (preferably to be in chipboard box) - An artbook/booklet of concept art from the anime (preferably to be in the chipboard box) - Exclusive disc art that's not found on any previous release - Exclusive cover art on the amaray cases - Numbered production identifier - NO figure (to cut down on cost) |
