These use identical transfers. The latter is part of the Blu Cinemathek series

Another pair:

The reason i'm asking is that the first one is a AVC coded transfer, the second one is VC-1 according to the Blu-ray.com database.

Well, someone could also enter that the moon is blue in the Database.
The BluCinemathek is stated to be AVC coded at ofdb.de.
You can assume that the discs are identical.

Companiey tend to do seldom new master discs. "Cop Land", "Scream 2" and "Fight Club" is the only example I know, when a former German master was replaced by a newer one.
Mostly if the former master was bad.

But you are right, it may happen. and yeah, I read , also, that the BluCinemathek Version is SL BD 25, but I didn't find any information on the other disc.

Yeah. But it is not allways perfect. The Top stats of the US says "AVC" while the BD Infor scan says "VC-1".

So it seems that the German edition is superior to the US edition, is that right?

^^ Just a heads-up since you've resurrected this, The Korean distributor D'Ailly are releasing a new premium edition. It should end up on either Kimchi's or Nova's site soon.

Not sure if they've gotten a new master or using the Studio Canal cut though.

Is the German release English friendly? Never seen the film and missed the boat with the UK version from HMV. Was wondering if there were any scenes in the film that needed subtitles etc.

Why not buy the French or Italian releases both from Warner ?
Identical disc to what HMV sold here.

I had the French release, bought years before HMV released theirs.

i am wondering the same thing, the transfer looks nicer compared to Warners disc and am wondering if there is any foreign non english dialogue in this that I would need the warner disc for.
