Default Analog Multichannel Audio vs Digital Connection

My Sony Blu Ray and my Pioneer (VSX-D814)receiver both have the analog multichannel connections. Which is a better route to go as far as hooking this up and getting the best sound? Currently the Blu Ray is hooked up using a fiber-optic Toslink cable. Is there really going to be that big of difference with the analog connection as far as the uncompressed audio? Can I just use regular RCA cables for this connection? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Toslink and spdif cannot carry high definition multi-cannel audio. Analogue multi channel connections CAN - they are just analogue!

If you have a BDP-S300, you will get LPCM soundtracks over analogue, but not TrueHD decoded. If you have a BDP-S1, you will get both LPCM and THD over analogue. In my experience, analogue sounds better with HD audio, and that's with an amp that works best with digital inputs.
