Basically

Pokemon Unite: Why?

PU's being made in partnership with Tencent, a massive Chinese tech company that's basically Chinese Facebook, Amazon, and Paypal all in one corporation. League of Legends is huge here. PU's not aimed at you -- its purpose is to make Pokemon popular in China.

I wasn't optimistic about a new main entry game for this year as the DLC is this year's entry by proxy. I'm just hoping that they issue a complete physical edition after The Crown Tundra is released before I consider a purchase, but my optimism is ever-wavering.

I was hoping that they would instead surprise drop the Gen I-III games in the eShop complete with Home functionality, but considering how far ahead in advance Nintendo had announced the 3DS VC ports, they seem to think that marketing/building anticipation for re-releases of the classics is worthwhile.

With the 3DS dead I fully expect the old Pokemon games on the Switch eShop next year. No way they stop milking that cow.

They'd be perfect for the 25th anniversary

Which ones? Generations 1-4?

I think everything before generation 6 is too slow to really enjoy again.

I agree but regardless there will always be nostalgia around those games. I replayed Yellow during the 20th anniversary and it was rough. Not a fun experience.

Worst thing about going back to the old games is the need for HMs

Losing them was probably the biggest QOL improvement they ever made to Pokémon games.

Having said that I do wish they would release all of them on for one console. Especially now we have Pokémon Home to let us transfer everything up to the new games.

I never had Pokémon Bank so have no way of moving any of my old Pokémon over.

Pokemon Unite is the most disliked video in Nintendo history

second is Metroid Prime Federation Force, third is last years Sword & Shield treehouse, fourth is Byleth Smash reveal and fifth is Nintendo Switch Online.

Gen 4 is easily the peak of the series for me. Platinum was great and Soul Silver is still the best game they have ever made. Remakes with modern QoL would be amazing but I would even take just straight eShop versions of those two (would require updating for the second screen part) and be happy forever.

Wasn't there a reason for the DS generation not being put onto the eShop? I remember people on Reddit always talking about this. Digital versions of these games would help lower the price of physical cartridges. Black 2 and both HGSS are selling for $100 dollars on eBay now. Not to mention the never ending supply of bootlegs floating around.

Ah, that bootleg of White 2 that I tried to play until I realized I wasn't getting any XP for battles.

Damn there's bootlegs of B/W2 out there too? I had no idea. I knew DPP and HGSS were overrun with them.
