I may end up having this thread's title changed. Instead of starting a separate thread for one-off drama series/mini-series, I'm starting a thread for any new ones starting.

Found out this week about a drama airing over four consecutive nights on Channel 5 called The Drowning. It starts a week next Monday (1st February). Among the cast is Jill Halfpenny. (Source: Geektown).

Had thought about watching drama series Blood (starring Adrian Dunbar from Line of Duty). There have been I think, a couple of series on Channel 5.

Still to get Network's DVD releases of partly improvised detective drama series Suspects.

Have you watched C4’s ‘It’s A Sin’? Strong first episode Friday night. Great soundtrack.

No, I didn't see the first episode. It's not a series I would be interested in watching. Haven't seen any of Russell T. Davies' previous series either.

A second series of detective drama series The Mallorca Files starts on BBC One next Monday afternoon (1st February). If it's shown like the first series, it'll be shown over two weeks, Mondays to Fridays.

Edit: A correction. The first series did consist of ten episodes, but this new, second series will consist of six episodes. They start next Monday and will likely finish on Monday 8th February.

Don't know the start date yet, but a new (fourth) series of detective drama series Unforgotten (starring Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar) will be starting on ITV in a couple of weeks time.

A new (fourth) season of Canadian detective drama series Private Eyes started on Sky Witness last Thursday night (it used to premiere in the UK on Universal TV (formerly Universal Channel).

A new season of Blue Bloods starts on Sky Witness next Monday night.

The Terror, Ridley Scott is the executive producer, has just started on BBC2.

Stars Ciaran Hinds, Jared Harris.

It's a double episode tonight (10 in total).

Just noticed there is a blu-ray thread for this: it's out in May.

Thanks for posting about this. I've been thinking about trying out the first episode or two. I've read about it in the TV listings magazine I get, as well as on Geektown. Sounds like it was shown on another channel here first, before the BBC airing it.

Apparently there has been a second season.

A short, second series of detective drama series McDonald & Dodds ended last night on ITV. Starting next Sunday night in it's place is the first of a new detective drama series called Grace.

However, checking McDonald & Dodds' EpGuides page, there is a third episode in it's second series.

Watching currently, three Canadian drama series, all equally very good. The intriguing one is Coroner. The first season premiered here on Universal TV (formerly Universal Channel), which closed down earlier last year. The show, along with various other series which Universal TV premiered in the UK (Chicago Med and Private Eyes), were picked up by Sky Witness. The current, third season is shown on Monday nights following the current season of Blue Bloods.

One of the things I found interesting about the first season of Coroner, was that in each episode there was at least one use of the 'f' word. This surprised (but didn't offend) me, because the show is shown in Canada on the same network as Murdoch Mysteries (which, in the episodes I've seen, doesn't have strong language in it). The second season though didn't have any strong language in it (maybe Sky Witness showed the versions with no strong language?), and so far, the third season hasn't had any strong language.

The lead actress in the series Coroner is easy on the eyes (Serinda Swan), playing an intelligent character.

Had hoped Coroner would get a Blu-ray release. In Germany, the first season of Private Eyes had a Blu-ray release. Oddly, the second season was released quickly after it, but on DVD only.

Starting on Channel Five next Monday night at 9 pm, and continuing until next Thursday night, is a new four-part drama mini-series called Intruder (it stars Elaine Cassidy, whose credits include the TV series Harper's Island).

BBC 3 part prison drama, Time, with Sean Bean and Stephen Graham, was absolute class.

Steedeel, I bet you've watched this new series Time, as you've said before that you've watched some series which actor Stephen Graham has starred in.

Superb. Jimmy McGovern, Stephen Graham and Sean Bean. What a dream team.

Boy was GB News' launch utter crap - no news (they clearly don't have the budget), just the same old overexposed rich late middle aged faces patting themselves on the back for saying the same op-ed stuff they've been saying on the BBC and ITV and in the papers for years to each other. Same media bubble suspects, but not even neatly wrapped to make it look new. Amateur hour 'technical problems' only added to the tedium. Part of one interview with a a presenter (yep, interviewers interviewing interviewers about how great and brave they are seems to be all they're offering, which is a waste of time when Andrew Neil is the country's best political interviewer) wasn't even in synch. It was just a media luvvies echo chamber love-in

Still, if it lasts six months (even Alan Sugar called out the fact they'd sold no ads) it'll mean a probable format change for Alan Partridge's next show.

I didn't see the launch of GB News, but perhaps given a bit of time it may settle down and end up being a reasonably good channel. I'm hoping Andrew Neil's no-nonsense style of interviewing politicians will continue as he is an interviewer I always admired when he was working at the BBC.

Simon McCoy seems to have jumped ship again - he was on Sky News several years back before moving to the BBC, and now he's on GB News.

Neil came over very badly and incredible superficial on the parts I saw: it was just an endless circle jerk of the same old faces praising each other for how great and courageous they were: no news, but a lot of posturing and vanity about how important and groundbreaking they all were from all concerned.
