Let's hope this is the real version without burnt-in subtitles, accoring to the restoration info, HK film archive did the restoration based on original camera negative and also restore the original film elements for subtitles. I assume they just put the Mandarin and English subtitles on the final product to present the original viewing experience. It's a shame they used this burnt-in version for their own blu-ray release and that bootleg Cargo release from Germany just cropped the image to hide those burnt-in subtitles. Hope Spectrum can do it right. Also I believe HK archive did some new interviews with the original cast to make a short promotion video for this restoration project. It would be awesome for Spectrum to license those original materials and make longer intreviews as extras.
