Default November and the BD tide.

With 14 days to go to the launch of PS3, it seems that BD is gaining a huge momentum. But it's not just about how the PS3 is this multimedia juggernaut. It's about Fox supporting BD in a big way. It's about more new players in the market getting great reviews : the Philips, the Panny and the Pioneer (the three Ps!). Lastly, it's about how the Samsung player not being crappy as it was thrashed out to be (Sony was right that it was soft though they got it wrong when they released T5E with a crappy transfer).

Of course, I'm basing my feelings on this forum and the AVS BD Forum, and not checking out the HD-DVD forum. Am I the only one getting this vibe?

I don't know if you've noticed how calm the forum has become. It's like people are resting after a great effort, knowing the thing is finally set in motion. The preparations almost made. The calm before the storm.

I think they're still fighting about LG and the PS3 over there.

It's x O'clock and all is well.

HD-DVD's time has come and gone. They exploited their early lead which was a smart move on their part. Sony could've ended this thing right out the gate, but their missteps cost them.

With all of the hype around the PS3 that we're going to see over the next two months though, HD-DVD is going to be struggling to get a leg up on the competition in terms of press/media time. Then after Xmas you've got the European launch, which will put them back on the front page over there.

...and the train just keeps coming...

The charmed ones! The Pioneer Elite can be Alyssa Milano.
(I hope you guys got the joke)

I agree. The momentum is building like a tropical storm on it's way to being a hurricane (or typhoon depends on where you are in the world). HD-DVD will really have to "batton down the hatches" to survive.
