Youtuber Tom Scott created some very nice videos that helps to explain, even for simple people, how the problems of digital video, video artifacts and limited colors and color space happens:

At least I'm not alone about notice the fails of most digital video systems.
I wonder if the video compression used in digital movie theater would survive his "confetti test".

The rise of HD and 4K videos appears that worked to turn video compression more agressive/abusive, increasing a lot the artifacts and poor colors&banding, in most digital TV system (air broadcast, mini sat antenna etc...)

I would like to ask for you, who own 4K players and have large collecton of films in 4K discs, to tell me how you compared the blu ray to ultra HD (4K) blu ray, since UHD blu ray have more color richness (10 bits per nagainst 8 bits of conventional Blu ray) and better color space.

Probably since DCP's are just JPEG2000 stills one right after the other. There's no interframe compression happening.
