Not really enthused about Astro Playroom but being its a PS5 title i'm interested to see the tech they're targeting and i want to see Godfall as its a proper next gen title.

Seen Godfall gameplay & Astro.

Aside from different angles of the System & Controller, nothing to see here.

They had very strict orders not to touch the console. A bit of a weird event from Sony. Not sure what the point of it was.

Well SOMEBODY touched it because there was one report that said the system was still "cool to the touch" after 80 minutes of gameplay.

I wouldn't exactly say it was pointless. I mean, we got to see the system's fast loading in action (and it did not disappoint!). We got to see the actual, real console and get a better idea of the scale of the system, which did not look as huge as a lot of the renders suggested prior. We got to see a lot of gameplay on the PS5. Plus it was nice to see different gamers using the Dualsense to get an idea of it's size and what they thought of it.

You're nothing but positive which I applaud. All I seem to be reading is people moaning about how bad Sony are being and that "everyone" is "thinking" about cancelling their pre-orders.

As I've said numerous times, the PS5 (to me) is the upgrade I've been waiting for. The SSD and silent running is all I need.

I know right? It's insanity to me. The funny thing about it is, most of what everybody is complaining about will be so insignificant a year from now, everyone is going to wonder why they complained so much to begin with.

It's like I was saying the other day to NARMAK, forget about everything else and just look at the games. Because ultimately that's what matters most. When you compare the offerings from Sony with what MS is offering in the first year, dude it's a ****ing joke! Within the first year of the PS5's life we are getting Miles Mirales, Demon's Souls, Sackboy's Adventure, Destruction All Stars, Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet and Clank, Gran Turismo 7, Returnal, God of War Ragnarok, etc. And those are just the first party games! That's not even taking into account exclusives from 3rd parties like Ghostwire Tokyo, Deathloop, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, etc. What are you going to be playing on Xbox the first year? Gears of War 5 and Ori at 120fps? LOL! We don't even know if Halo Infinite will be ready in 2021. All other MS 1st party projects are so far away, it doesn't even make sense to buy an XSX right now. Now it might be a different story come 2022/2023 when all these projects finally start coming out. Once games like Avowed, Fable, Hellblade 2, etc start releasing it might be worth it to own an XSX. But right now?? Please! You can talk all that pro-consumer, better messaging, better goodwill bullshit all you want. But to me, it serves as nothing more than a diversion to the fact that MS doesn't have jack shit to play on their console.

Retail units were sent out last week to various devs so I have no doubt that we will see (have seen if the video from over the weekend is accurate) the UI before Sony show us.

It's their own fault really there's no reason not to show it at this point so if it gets spoiled then boo hoo to them.

Having said that we didn't see the PS4 UI until about a week before it launched so

The statement of it running whisper quiet after over an hour running in an already hot room (80+ degrees) answered the only major question I needed answered.

I still want to know the details of backwards compatibility and boost mode but knowing it truly does run quiet is all I NEEDED to know before I have my hands on it.

LOL! I'm just ready to get my hands on Spiderman and Demon's Souls! I'm also getting Sackboy for the kids. They are really looking forward to play that along with Astrobot. Oh and the Dualsense. I'm really looking forward to getting that in my hands!

Someone (angry dev) will upload & leak the UI. PS4s was shown to us at TGS I think. Though what they showed back then didnt 100% transfer to what we actually got.

Maybe Sony doesnt want to make that mistake again. Dunno.

It's really bizarre that Sony don't let people or themselves show the UI. Hasn't MS already shown it off and had the preview units using it?

Why hide it? There's not going to be anything special etc. imo that breaks away from something MS somehow will manage to copy and release for launch. That said, it's not a huge deal as it's just a basic functionality but begs the question if the size of the NVMe usable space is 664GB, what the heck is taking up all the other space.

Well, MS isn't hiding the XSX UI because it's the exact same UI as the Xbox One. There's really nothing TO hide. The UI for PS5 is supposed to be a complete overhaul. Why they're waiting so long to unveil it is anybody's guess. I'm going to assume that Sony doesn't want it to get leaked out by "Joe Shmoe" on YouTube and instead wants to do their own reveal. Hopefully that will come sooner rather than later. But let me ask you this, would it be completely inconceivable if Sony decided to just let it be a surprise for gamers when they take it home on launch day? What would the consequences be for Sony if they didn't do a teardown and UI reveal at all? The launch systems are already gone. It's not like this is affecting console sales. Even if there are people out there who say "I'm canceling my pre-order because I don't know what the UI looks like", there are 50 more people behind them that will gladly take their spot, LOL!

Only idiots would cancel a pre-order. Smart people know you sell it

The UI of the Series X apparently is similar but MS have overhauled it too and its faster and most responsive than prior. However, Sony had no massive reason to overhaul but they chose to and implied via their own exec on that team they'd show it off but that's for us, the fans who are into the nitty gritty little details and discuss them on boards like this and form early adopters and in a way evangelise the product to others.

Right now, the PR strategy for this period up to launch doesn't seem to be something that's going to hurt either camp regardless of their fluffs.
