More info soon...
Makes sense. With another movie hitting theaters soon, we could see the previous entries get a UHD release.

That's odd, only that one is getting 4K. I'd consider buying the first one if it was reasonably priced.

Sweet! I would like to see this series get the UHD treatment, as they were the movies that I wanted the most when I first got a Blu-ray player.

These movies are guilty pleasures for me (Zombies FTW) with the exception of Afterlife which is s*it.

The best RE movie to date, instant buy on UHD!

However I will severely miss the 3D, this movie was meant to be seen that way.

I am not a 3D person, and I agree. I prefer to watch live-action movies in 2D, except for horror that really turns up the campiness of the 3D. One of my first experiences enjoying 3D was 'My Bloody Valentine' remake from 2009. It was hilarious what they did... including barf and a dismembered eye popping directly at the screen. 3D for me is a roller coaster ride... fun a few times a year. I just prefer the pristine clear, bright, vibrant image of a 2D movie.

Hopefully the rest of the series gets a similar release window. As terrible as 2 was when it first came out, it's the one I can rewatch the most. Its cheesy fun!

I vaguely remember around the time Retribution was released Milla posted on Twitter that she had recorded a commentary track with Boris for Afterlife and Paul Anderson talked about an extended cut of Retribution around that time too. I figured with the next movie being the final one a box set with new material was in the works, maybe we'll see that commentary in this release and hopefully get new 4K releases of the other movies with some added extras too.

Apocalypse throws in everything but the kitchen sink for the sake of entertainment. First one I saw and I have enjoyed the series ever since. The bluray has jacked up black levels though but easy to fix since the transition slides meant to fade to black (gray in the case of the dated HD transfer used for the DVD ported straight to bluray) This can easily be fixed though by using the fades to match the letterbox bars. Then the PQ starts to get very impressive. I think I dropped brightness from 51 to 42 but it works beautifully for the dated MPEG-2 transfer.

For me 3D all the way.

Btw if you like your horror in 3D, I suggest you check out Piranha (2010) and the last two Final Destination movies in 3D if you haven't seen them yet.

Afterlife was good! For me though, Extinction is my favorite out of the series so far!

This was one of my 1st 3D titles and on a good display = OLED it is a blast to watch. Having compared The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 3D directly to the UHD HDR version the other night the 3D is still easily the more immersive experience and trumps it.

I won't be tossing any of my 3D titles for UHD. I would keep them both.

Are multi-disc cases available to buy for UHD yet? I'd want to add more discs for certain titles.

I'm willing to bet there's a possibility of 1-5 coming out somewhere in the first quarter of next year, with the 6th movie coming out in January and such.
