Just found this..

Warner presents 'The Brave One' in 1080p/VC-1 video, framed at 2.40:1. It's not as a gritty a transfer as you might think, but a very polished and good-looking presentation that is sure to please.

Got it and watched it Monday. Great flick, pretty much a female version of Death Wish. As expected Foster and Howard give great performances, and I loved the ending. The disc itself was really good looking. The TrueHD track was nice as well, though it's fairly sedate, the New York city sounds come through very well.

Terrence Howard and Jodie Foster are great actors, but this movie didn't really stand out to me.... Jodie Foster is also NOT aging well...

Thumbs up

I watched this last night and I would give the movie 4 out of 5 stars.

I like Jodie Foster, but I think her career is at an end. I now associate her with all the female victim roles: Panic Room, Flight Plan and now The Brave One.

I think the title of this movie is poor because it has nothing to do with being brave, but everything to do with revenge. It would have been better titled "The Vigilante" or "Revenge".

The sound quality great, as it's lossless Dolby TrueHD. The film image is soft, not very grainy so I suspect Warner did the usual pre-filtering which also threw out some of the detail. The VC-1 bitrate is a little higher than usual but still within HD DVD range. The video portion of the transfer looks good overall.

It doesn't compare to 3:10 it's more about alienation and the life of the man who killed Jesse James not about the life of Jesse James. Robert Ford, Casey Affleck Creeps me out in the way that you just hate him because he's portrayed as a killer. I mean you really wanna kill this guy, and that's probably why he got nominated because you hate him so much, but not in a cool way at all. The least liked bad guy = Coward. And no one likes a Coward

Thumbs up Brave one...pretty good

I thought the sound and the story was pretty good. Foster's char seemed to be in constant conflict with herself throughout the story. It was a j & Hyde thing with her. I also have to say HD is not going to be kind to her as she is starting to show her age in her face. I don't know if they used a body double for the nude scenes but that still looked good.

I could be wrong but the impression that I got was that Terence Howard was "The Brave One" for having the courage to do what he knew was morally right as opposed to what was right in the eyes of his career and the law. He seemed to be having an intense inner struggle himself through out the film.

Definately a good movie though

They're not gunfights, unfortunately 4 guys die in the film and 3 of them get shot in the back or in the back of the head. If you want to see cowboy style gunfighting this isn't your flick. This is only for TRUE DIE hard pitt fans. There is more action in Legend of the Fall then this film, lol.

IMHO, and in terms of plot/story, The Brave One and The Invasion are neck and neck for worst blu-ray of the year.
