Tsai Ming-liang's masterpiece of a debut is finally coming to blu ray from Big World Pictures, in association with Vinegar Syndrome. It will be released in December alongside a theatrical release and new restoration, most likely as a Vinegar Syndrome Partner Label. In my opinion, one of the greatest Asian films of the 1990s and highly worthy of finally getting a blu ray release.

My copy arrived early in the UK, on the 23rd, slip is gorgeous. Looking forward to wrapping up Christmas stuff and getting the chance to watch it. Delighted to finally track this down on a physical release.

I'm 99% sure it's Region A locked but I'll check tomorrow and likewise for the commentary. Not listened to it yet. Gorgeous film though and looks like a great transfer to me.

Apologies it's taken me so long to reply, I must be honest that I forgot to check and only remembered when I flicking through my shelves before.

It is Region A locked, yes.

The selected scenes commentary is pretty good, focusing more on symbolism, cinematography and sociocultural context rather than the production. It's only 25 mins long but it's insightful, concise and well prepared. Well worth it for me.

I am glad that I bought this film. It was an interesting time capsule of 90's Taiwan (even though I have never been). I enjoyed it, and it has an actual neon colored slip cover.
