Blu-ray Grand Duke

Seriously where did he disappear to? He was on the up and up and then Rogue One happened and made over a billion worldwide and Edwards... vanished? He has no projects lined up according to IMDB. Now i am well aware there were certain issues during production/ post production on RO and than Gilroy was brought in to oversee reshoots and editing. I wonder to what extent this harmed Edwards' career. Lord and Miller screwed Lucasfilm over loads and cost them an absolute fortune with their Solo shenanigans and it hasn't harmed their career one bit, they went straight on to other projects.
Obviously there's a chance that Edwards was burnt out after the Rogue One experience but i'd love to know what actually happened. I loved Monsters and Godzilla and i enjoyed Rogue One. It's a shame to see 3 years later that he still does not having lined up. Does anyone know the truth or cares to guess? |

If so though i would have thought he'd at least have some smaller projects listed. I mean it seems nuts to go from Godzilla to Star Wars to.... nothing.

There’s another movie on IMDb he is credited on as director, and setting up movies can take awhile especially if it’s CGI heavy and if he is one that likes to take his time.
He is also listed as a producer on a Monsters TV show. |

I agree setting up big movies can take a while but Godzilla was released in 2014 and Rogue One was released in 2016. Movies don't get much bigger than those and they didn't take a while. I do get your point though. I'm just wondering is something else is at play after Rogue One and the complications regarding reshoots.

Some directors get burned out after working on these big movies, especially ones with rocky production histories like Rogue One reportedly had. Wouldn't be surprised if he's just cooling his heels developing a smaller/more personal movie, or just enjoying time off. It's not like he's in hiding or people aren't calling him, he was at the Godzilla KOTM premiere.

Studios are also pretty fickle, even with directors who have hits. Chris McQuarrie said after he scored big with Fallout, he went to various studios and pitched movies that weren't Mission Impossible related and still got turned down.

Anybody that turns McQuarrie down is a complete idiot. He's one of the best directors in Hollywood.

He mentioned being in talks on established franchises that they owned, not just original work. DC was rumored but he said there were others. If directing Rogue Nation & Fallout can't convince studios that you're a solid franchise caretaker (on top of countless script doctoring he's done including Rogue One), I don't know what can.
