Default Denis Villeneuve vs. Christopher Nolan

Two of the most acclaimed and revered filmmakers currently putting out big studio films. Whose work do you prefer?

I wouldn't call myself a fan of either. I find both to be overrated and pretentious.

From Villeneuve, I liked Prisoners and Sicario.
From Nolan, I liked Following, Batman Begins, The Prestige and The Dark Knight.

I like both their works, but both have their strengths and flaws. I'd give Villeneuve the edge though, I like all of his works more consistently.

Not a fan of either.

I think they are the two coldest filmmakers in the business. I've never cared about any character in their movies.

I like both but not a big fanboy or anything either. But Nolan gets my vote.

Daddy V is an artiste, Nolan is more of a popcorn director.

Christopher Nolan for me but it's close, they're both great.

I think Nolan's films have overall been more original and impactful, although for a moment I thought with Tenet that he'd lost his way.

Christopher Nolan but I am also a little biased as I really liked Memento which they filmed in my town so I still think about that film a lot when I drive past the Travel Inn he stays at or the mobile home park he runs through as all that stuff is still around.

Not a major fan of either, but Nolan probably has more that I've liked/had much interest in.

For Nolan, I like The Dark Knight Trilogy (although even there, Burton's Batman is more my style) and Inception. The Prestige and Dunkirk are good too. Tenet and Interstellar are just OK.

Villeneuve I like Dune 1 quite a bit. 2 was honestly kind of disappointing to me. Arrival is OK.

I typically enjoy a Nolan film once. I can watch Villeneuve over and over again.

Denis is definitely the best auteur and I would prefer to prefer his films, but I have to vote for Nolan, and then hope there isn't another WWII one coming too soon...
