I expect this to get cancelled. It’s only gonna make $2.5m this weekend.

WB doesn't cancel Blu-rays, 4K possibly, but not Blu-rays.

They do cancel BDs but I think the cast (and prestige aspirations, even if it doesn’t look like they’ll pan out) means it’s safe. Also would be a crime to get Deakins photography in SD.

There's no way WB would ever cancel a prestige picture like The Goldfinch. Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close received slightly better reviews and still managed a Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor nomination on Oscar morning. Not saying history will repeat as the reviews for this have been brutal, but just for perspective's sake.

This is one of my very favorite modern reads, but even as such, the ending is incredibly weak, and I have enormous issues with just about the entire cast of characters. All of this, of course, is saved by that marvelous middle section in Vegas and what may be Donna Tartt's true diamond in the rough: Boris.

I'll buy it when it goes on sale.

Just saw this today at 3.00 and I found myself the only one in the Theatre. What a shame.I totally enjoyed the film.Performances are exceptional.Roger Deakins cinematography was amazing as allways.I know the film will never make back its money but its a sad time when w.b. has the balls to produce such a fine movie and no one came out to see it.The days of experimental filmmaking are slowly going the way of nothing but the eye candy films.Iam not saying its a masterpiece but trash it is not.Maybe I just have superhero burnout.Bring me more storys like this.Just my opinion.Thanks.

Hoping for a 4K release. Saw this in the theater today and it looks and sounds beautiful.

It's bad enough that audiences aren't seeing many dramas at all in theaters anymore, but bad reviews will absolutely kill a drama's chances of making money at this point.

I guess the film's marketing didn't connect with a lot of people? As someone who hasn't read the book or watched the film, the trailer really intrigued me, but I guess people don't care for trailers that don't really divulge much of anything that the story is about (unless it's attached to an installment of a popular franchise people were already guaranteed to go see).

I’d hope for a Blu-ray release instead that doesn’t get canned and becomes a DVD-only release

Amazon removed their BD preorder and left the DVD preorder only. Thought it be an indication that there is no Blu-ray.

This was a much bigger flop than Sun is Also a star. Ill be surprised if there is a blu-ray.

The cast and book are too famous for this not to get a physical release.

And it's still an awards contender, if only for Cinematography.

I was about to say the same thing. I think the thing that saves it for a possible Blu-ray release is the cast. Sun is also a Star had unknown faces.

The trailer intrigued me (along with that cast!) - enough that I bought advanced ticket for opening day. I hadn't read the book, but I sure did read the reviews. The ticket was quickly returned and refunded. Much of the time I don't concentrate on reviews, but the ones read from critics I trust were enough to steer me away.
