Bourne’ Universe TV Series ‘Treadstone’ Ordered Straight-to-Series at USA Network



The mysteries of the Bourne universe are coming to cable. USA Network has ordered the ‘Bourne’ spinoff drama Treadstone straight to series. Heroes creator Tim Kring will write and executive produce the series with 99 Homes and Fahrenheit 451 filmmaker Ramin Bahrani executive producing and directing the pilot.

The series centers on the CIA black ops program called Treadsone — a name well-familiar to any Bourne fan — that uses behavior modification protocol to transform its agents into super spy killing machines like Jason Bourne. They can tell you the license plate numbers of all six cars outside. They can tell you that your waitress is left-handed and the guy sitting up at the counter weighs two hundred fifteen pounds and knows how to handle himself. They know the best place to look for a gun is the cab or the gray truck outside, and at this altitude, they can run flat out for a half mile before their hands start shaking. Why would they know that? Well, because of Treadstone and the series will follow these apex assassins across the globe as the super assassins are activated with deadly missions.

“As the #1 cable entertainment network for the past 12 years, USA Network is delivering a dynamic lineup of big, bold programming – and what could be bigger and bolder than the Treadstone mythology?” said Chris McCumber, president of entertainment networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment.

Universal Cable Productions is producing and production is expected to begin in 2019. Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner executive produce on behalf for Captivate Entertainment (which produced the Bourne films) and Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas will executive produce on behalf of Imperative Entertainment. Justin Levy (Beyond) will also executive produce.

Treadstone was one of four pilots ordered by USA Network back in April, alongside Andy Greenwald and Sam Esmail’s murder mystery Briarpatch, Denis Leary and Alex Cary’s crime thriller meets black comedy Erase, and the female-led drama Dare Me. Check out the official synopsis below.

They have cancelled Shooter ( a spinoff from a movie ) to start another Show from another movie. Ran out of ideas #USA hein?

But truth be told Shooter wasnt going anywhere anyway.

‘Bourne’ Drama Series ‘Treadstone’ Rounds Out Cast: Omar Metwally, Tracy Ifeachor, More



USA Network has rounded out the cast for its straight-to series drama Treadstone, an offshoot from Universal’s Bourne franchise. The Affair star Omar Metwally, Tracy Ifeachor (Quantico), Hyo Joo Han (W: Two Worlds), Gabrielle Scharnitzky (The Game) and Emilia Schüle (Berlin Station) join previously announced Jeremy Irvine and Brian J. Smith as series regulars in the drama from Heroes creator Tim Kring and Universal Cable Productions.

Written by Kring, Treadstone explores the origin story and present-day actions of a CIA black ops program known as Operation Treadstone — a covert program that uses behavior-modification protocol to turn recruits into nearly superhuman assassins. The first season follows sleeper agents across the globe as they’re mysteriously “awakened” to resume their deadly missions.

Metwally will play Mr. Edwards, a CIA agent who was ostracized by his colleagues after making a decision that left a fellow operative dead. His willingness to make the hard choice positions him as the most qualified agent for a stealth mission.

Ifeachor will portray Tara Coleman, an investigative journalist who has turned her back on her career after getting too close to a dangerous truth. Now she must put the past behind her to get to the bottom of an international conspiracy.

Han is SoYun, a wife and mother who must make difficult choices that compromise her quiet family life in North Korea after she starts to learn about her own secret past.

Scharnitzky will play Petra, a no-nonsense Russian patriot who has committed her life to her country but has deep-seated knowledge of Russian tactics that come into play when she is betrayed.

Schüle will portray a Russian KGB agent who will stop at nothing to promote the agenda of her motherland.

Kring executive produces with Ramin Bahrani, who will direct the pilot. Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner executive produce on behalf of Captivate and Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas will executive produce for Imperative Entertainment (All the Money in the World); and Justin Levy (Beyond) will executive produce.

Metwally has starred for the past three seasons on The Affair and will appear in season 5 set to air later this year. He also has recurred for the past two seasons on USA’s Mr. Robot. Metwally is repped by MGMT Entertainment, Innovative, and attorney Bruce Gellman.

Ifeachor recently ended her run as the co-lead in John Strand’s political Off-Broadway play The Originalist. She will soon appear in indie feature Confetti, alongside Amy Irving and Zhu Zhu. Ifeachor is repped by APA, NB Management, VanderKloot Law, and The Artist Partnership.

Han received both the APAN Star Award and MBC Drama Award for Best Actress for her role in W: Two Worlds. She most recently appeared opposite Kang Dong Won in features Golden Slumber and Kim Jee Woon’s Wolf Brigade. Han is repped by BH Entertainment and attorney Scott E. Whitehead.

Scharnitzky’s credits include BBC’s The Game and Bonekickers opposite Hugh Bonneville and Julie Graham. She will also appear in the upcoming series Devils opposite Patrick Dempsey. She is repped by Crawford Talents.

Schüle, the German voice of Astrid in How To Train Your Dragon, will appear in the upcoming films Traumfabrik and Narziss und Goldmund, as well as the upcoming TV movie Die Vergesslichkeit der Eichhörnchen. Schüle is repped by Spielkind and Olivia Bell Management.

I hope it at least tries to keep the Bourne movies' tone.

Probably gonna see a storyline of brainwashed assassins falling in love with each other as they struggle to find their humanity.

Intriguing. Still disappointed we didn't see the further adventures of Aaron Cross (probably the only one).

I wouldn’t mind more of his story. That movie was decent, for me though the problem was it just ended. It left a bad taste in my mouth.

The way it ended, you could tell they were planning on a sequel. Not a good idea. As it is, we now have a good first part of a series that never happened.

Wasn't there a plan to do a teamup/crossover movie with Bourne and Cross?


But back to this show, I wonder who they'll bring in to play a young Albert Finney and Young Brian Cox since they were instrumental in the Treadstone/Blackbriar program.

I wonder who's going to be the old corrupt white guy in the war room trying to sweep this under the rug.

You had Brian Cox, David Strathairn, Stacey Keach, and Tommy Lee Jones (and I guess Albert Finney counts even though he was more of a side character than antagonist)

Who else in Hollywood is out there that can do this? There's Chris Plummer, Donald Sutherland, John Lithgow.

Kyle Chandler could play the younger guy like Conklin and Vosen were that reports to the older guy trying to cover it up.

Just noticed on the Dish schedule, Treadstone actually (kinda) premieres tonight. "Treadstone Special Preview", on USA 9pm (Central), 55 minutes. No idea if this is the pilot episode early, or some kind of clips & interviews program, but it's on in 40 minutes!

I've actually been watching and enjoying it for the most part. There is a lot going on with some back and forth between past and present Times but it looks like they are getting to a point where we may find out who is actually running things. I believe it is still on break right now since my DVR hasn't recorded an episode since last month.

It was pretty good, although if you took the fight scenes out of it, it would be 2 episodes long.

I started watching it until I saw everyone that someone talked to was a sleeper agent of the treadstone program it just became really mundane in that aspect. This to me just seemed like they wanted to pack to much into it, sort of like with John Wick 2/3 where all of a sudden there are 9 trillion assassins in the world.
