Does anyone feel the 3D experience at home absolutely blows away the theater experience? I know all about the bennies of going to the movies, but I still don't think it's even close anymore based upon the title that you're watching and your equipment. To me my system is so much more satisfying than what is offered at the movie theater. To me, home is where I want to watch all my 3D and basically all movies. The more and more advanced the tech gets, the more I think the entertainment dollar will continue to sway to the home theater side. Does anyone have any opinions or am I smokin something

My thing is that the theater doesn't have near the resolution of your 1080P screen at home. So...... for me, It's such an enjoyable experience at home versus the movie theater. You can controol the sound, the 3D and so on. I don't know, I used to go to the movies all the time but now I can buy the Blu ray and spend about the same amount of money, or less than going to the movies. I also now own that particular movie and save the money on all the goodies you would spend at the movies.

Home all the way. Since I bought my 3D Equipment last May I have not gone to the cinema once. I used to love going to the movie theaters. Now its all about my home. Its much better seeing 3D movies at home because you get to pick your environment. You control the sound, video and everything else. Plus the cost is minimal when you are mostly renting blu-rays and only buying the select few best quality movies. For me the home experience is much better.

I still like going to the theater, but yes, I agree that movies look and sound much more impressive at home in both 2D and 3D. The image is blown up so big at theaters that details start to look fuzzy, so at home even though the resolution is less than that at the theater, the image looks much more crisp and detailed. And regarding the sound, a decent home surround sound system for me sounds much better than the high-dollar giant speakers in the theater. Due to the close proximity of the speakers at home the various channels are more distinct. And at home I can pause the movie whenever I want to refresh my drink or popcorn

Funny i was saying this the other night when i was viewing Tangled 3D. for me watching it in the movie theaters is like im screening the movie to c if i want to buy it. i only go to c movies in imax now cause the resolution is the only thing that come close to being at home. other than that home theater all the way

I'd never go back to the public theaters anymore. I was able to set up a home theater for less than the cost of a most 60"+ 3D TV's. And even though my projector is 720p, the 3D BD movies look fantastic and the 3D is awesome, too. The home theater is pretty basic, but I have 7.1 surround, a 3D projector and a 1080p LCD projector, 150" screen, HTPC w/Nvidia 3D Vision, Xbox, Sat TV and 4 real theater chairs.

In addition to all the reasons already posted I'd like to mention the comfort factor. The comforts of home can't be duplicated in a public place like a theater but with tech as affordable and simple as it is becoming, we can quit easily bring the theater to the home. Sometimes I wonder if movies theater will eventually share the same fate as the classic arcades.
