Holy mackerel. One of those rare announcements about which I can say, without the guilt of hyperbole, "I've been waiting for this for over a decade". I had wanted to watch it on the big screen back when it was released, but it didn't play in my town. The Brazilian DVD was not widescreen. No Blu-ray in sight. The wait is finally over. Don't even care if it ends up being disappointing.

The crazy part was I literally just got rid of the DVD about two weeks ago as the art ended up getting really damaged. Glad, I'll be able to buy this again.

I wonder if all the original extras that were announced all those years ago will remain:

Video will be presented as 2.40:1 1080p AVC accompanied by a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack. Extras include three Short Films of Ron Howard, three alternate endings, 11 deleted scenes, 11 behind-the-scenes featurettes, photo gallery, blooper reel, and bonus trailers.

I'd be surprised if they aren't on there.

The Missing was shot Super 35, so i'm pretty sure the AU BD is open up vertically. Shock's Sony titles seem to stem from HDTV masters, so I assume most of the relatively modern titles that were shot Super 35 and not anamorphic are open matte with minimal loss on the sides (aside things like CG/VFX shots which are usually animated and finished approx to the theatrical ratio).

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth...but....Sony would have done a swell job themselves in releasing this one. There's rarely a Sony release in recent years that hasn't been stellar

Wasn't this coming out via Sony at one point like 10 years ago, and then it just didn't happen?

Either way, surprised this never got a release by Sony, but glad it's finally happening. Now, lets hope someone releases Bugsy.

Considering Sony doesn’t let licensors alter provided video and audio elements, this is basically a Sony release just with different encoding tools.

I was just thinking that Panic Room and this are both Sony films. And they are also one year apart.
