Uh, June 20th is a Saturday. I'm pretty sure this is a joke like the Rush Hour 4 billboard that was making the rounds a while back.

Yes it is a Saturday. But this really is supposed to be real. Like the IFC program they were a part of, Spoils of Babylon.

A still from it.

Quote:
Will Ferrell claimed it was a hoax, but a billboard on Sunset Boulevlard says it’s coming out June 20, a fact that Lifetime now confirms.

The Lifetime TV-movie “A Deadly Adoption” stars Ferrell and Kristin Wiig, who last year starred together in the hilarious IFC miniseries “The Spoils of Babylon.”

The project follows a successful couple who house and feed a pregnant woman (Jessica Lowndes) in hopes of adopting her baby.

Rachel Lee Goldenberg (“Z Nation”) directed from a screenplay by former SNL writer Andrew Steele.

Steele wrote both “Spoils of Babylon” and Ferrell’s 2012 Spanish-language comedy “Casa di mi Padre.”

It honestly looks like it's played pretty seriously but it's supposed to be a parody of Lifetime movies from what I understand. It's from the writer of Spoils of Babylon so the humor might be similar to that. I guess we'll find out. With these two I can't imagine it not being funny.

And Lifetime just happens to be airing ads for it? It's not a joke.

Looks like Wiig and Ferrell are playing it completely straight.

Why wouldn't they? I don't get where this parody stuff is coming from. It was never meant to be a parody or anything. Just another Lifetime movie.

I'm sorry, but I absolutely cannot buy those two playing it straight.

There's something fishy about this whole damn thing.

Its tongue in cheek. Serious, but a parody at the same time since it has all the cliches in a Lifetime movie!

Everyone had just assumed it was a parody because these two were involved. But in reality I guess Ferrell just loves Lifetime movies and asked Wiig to do one with him. So it's a legit Lifetime suspense movie.

They do play it mostly straight, but it's so ludicrous at times that there are laughs to be had. Her falling in the water in the beginning was pretty funny. And that ending was just hilariously cheesy. There's another moment that made me laugh out loud and I can't even remember what it was.

Overall, it's dumb. This is a total Lifetime movie. But the novelty of it starring Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig make it pretty entertaining. Definitely guilty pleasure territory.

6/10 (B-)

Would Ferrell and Wiig be open to a sequel? I'd watch.
