Default Terminator 1 and 3, best version?

I recently bought the 2015 release for T2, and both audio and video work perfectly and even better than the 4K version.

Now, I want to get the first and third movie and there are different versions.

Should I get the DTS master audio version or the release version with the old and original poster? Regarding T1, and for T3 some people recommended the dvd version

You can also get the DE disc of Terminator 3 as it has lossless audio as well. I got the steelbook for cheaper than the regular UK version years ago. I also have the above transfer of the The Terminator with the LPCM 2.0 from the Laserdisc.

T1 looks way better than T2. T3 looks solid.

I haven't watched the first Terminator in years and I have the MGM 2015 5.1 version. Gonna have to pull it off the shelf, and push the ole 5.1 Polk Audio speakers LOL!

Remastered MGM BD for T1.

U.K. Sony BD for T3.

Also, I highly recommend picking up the region 1 special edition MGM DVD of T1 for the original mono mix and the extras.

The Image Entertainment DVD has the original mono mix too, but the transfer is worse and it's virtually bare bones.

Your local Big Lots might have this set on clearance for $2.50.

Contains the remastered disc for Terminator. Digital Copy is only for Genisys.

There is also the T3 DVD that uses altered aspect ratio but also shows more while showing less (vertically vs. horizontally) if you want to get completionist and see all the ways these can be seen.

The mono does sound better on the Image DVD though.

It's a lot worse than T2 (1991) in the audio department, just due the fact that Terminator came out in 1984 and had a lot smaller budget

The Image LD/DVD have the original theatrical audio. The MGM Mono audio is slightly different in places for some reason.

Thanks for the reply, and everyone. I ordered the UK version of T3 and old release of T1.

The Image uses the US mono while the MGM uses the International mono.

I totally forgot about the mono differences.

I used to have the Image DVD years ago, but sold it for some reason.

I might re-buy it. The PQ is worse on it than the MGM disc, but the colour timing is more accurate.

The grading is terrible on the MGM disc. I've seen a 35mm print of the film and that transfer is waaaaaaaaaay off.

The remastered BD is actually the most accurate, but the teal has been boosted a bit.
